I work at one of the big three. Production won't drop. The plants operate most efficiently at full rate production, so to offset some tariff costs they will probably be run at full rate for 8-9 months and then idled the rest of the year once days supply is 90+. The current plan is for a freeze on all new hires at plants, then offsetting production. So for example Warren will be idled and employees transferred to River Rouge, which itself will then get idled, employees transferred to Flat Rock, etc, etc. You will also see a mix of decontenting, price increases, and different incentives. Less "cash on the hood" and more lease renewal incentives, and long low interest loans. Why? Because those types of incentives also suppress the used market, and manufacturers need to keep moving new vehicles. If you can keep the monthly payments at or below a used car with loan rates and lease incentives a used car becomes less favorable to buyers.

Thanks for sharing this insider knowledge - it makes sense! I believe Ram is over 90 days currently of supply and Ford is close.

Just bought a 2024 F250 Tremor msrp was around 92,400 buying price was 85,415. It's one of the best equipped I could find that had no twin panel moonroof. Akins Ford in Winder, GA has a ton of F-250's and quite a few F-350's just not very many with cab lights and that was a must for me. Don't really see the prices coming down.

Stellantis/Ram already proved the price gouging on these vehicles. The prices won't change, the CEO just won't be able to take home $39,000,000 again.

I DONT like the black out! They also try taking away options on the lower trim levels like no sattelite radio option. I dont want to be forced into a higher dollar pick up, and that is what they are pushing. I run regular cabs and I can't get near the options as i did in 21-22!!!

It's not just the automakers greed though, the UAW has been squeezing the consumer and auto makers for years. I have a friend that works for Ford, they average 5-6 hours of work but get paid for 8 hrs. I have family members that work at Nissan, non-union plants, and the vehicles are lower cost and better made.

Why is this even a thing, all I heard from the GOP was how expensive things were? It doesn’t matter where the car is made….a lot of parts and raw materials maybe sourced over seas.

@ not here inn the east coast. If they were selling there wouldn’t be 72 on the lot. Manufacturers have priced themselves outa customers. Even someone like me that can easily afford these trucks won’t buy one because 80k means more to me than any truck. You can’t devalue my money then expect me to be ok with the upcharge so I just will not buy. There are many just like me then there are the few that feels the need. The dealers and manufacturers are depending on that small percentage and it’s shrinking. Even business owners don’t see the point in spending that kind of money and in less than 50k miles it’s in the shop then when it’s outa warranty it needs an engine. We looked back at our service trucks and the older ones are still going all of our new trash was down it in the shop so we had to put our 01 7.3s and our 04 6.0 gas’s back in service. We lost over 500k in revenue plus down time and repairs trying to ruin these newer trucks. We spent 80k on 4 3500 gassers used in January 2023 just as a test and not one has had any issues to date. Every diesel from 2018 to 2023 has had something major go wrong before or after 100k miles except the duramax. We are getting a 7.3 gas ford in March I’ve heard good things abt it
