Thanks! Great video and right on time as I'm going to install new pads on my QV for the first time this weekend. One question - did you disconnect the battery before installing the pads? I heard many stories about getting error codes after doing DIY work on Alfas.

nope, and didn't get any warnings or anything

Wondered which pads you settled with? Tried yellowstuff and now bedded in find the low speed bite very poor. Almost impossible to stop smoothly. Looked at Bluestuff but also considering Ferodo DS performance or DS2500

Perhaps, you should test new brake pads: Zimmermann, Hawk 5.0 and Roesch brake pads.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I track my QV and have no issue with the brakes. they work great stock.

did you even watch the video? I didn't mention track at all or actual stopping performance. I just said the pedal feels weird

Could you please share torque specs table?

Will these pad wear the rotors faster?

Is it not potentially the brake booster moving ? Same as what happens in the gt86/brz . Used to get a mod that attached or was part of the top strut brace
@ChrisDrift2 жыл бұрын
with it being brake by wire, I don't think there is a brake booster. I always thought the only reason cars have them is to make it easier to press the pedal... but as the pedal isn't connected to the brake system, you wouldn't need it Thinking about it though I guess what you really mean is the master cylinder, which just happens to be connected to the brake booster, but yeah again with it being brake by wire there is no pedal pressing on that so I doubt that's the cause

@@ChrisDrift AHH sorry. Not a car mechanic. Is it possible to vue through something like vcds. The time delay between you pressing the pedal and it registering that pedal press then?

What are the EBC part number for the front and rear?

Got EBC Bluestuff to fit to mine. But my bridge bolt is seized into my front calliper. Need to set aside a day to pull the callipers off completely which isn’t ideal. We also have a pretty big and very active whatsapp group for Quad owners (mostly UK but some from rest of world). Get loads of help and advice in there. Can DM you a link if you want to join

Bluestuff are more aimed at track days right? I know they'd be ok on the road as well but I was worried that as I'm trying to get more initial bite during gentle braking at lower temps, if anything they might be worse than stock for that. I am keen to put the yellowstuff in soon and see how they compare to these tarox ones though

@@ChrisDrift yeah they’re an entry level Trackday pad. They are R90 approved for road use on the Quad though and boast a good cold bite. I’ll find out soon enough
