Cool. I do the same but with a 4.5x3 DDXL. I tuck a 3rd underneath and it gives me a floor the rest is the same but I use two sticks as an a frame so the pokes are out of the way. With the handle of my trekking pole, I have a heck of a time keeping it in place. The DD tarp is very slick and the handle is even a soft plastic. @@RedBranchBushcraft ...nothing beats the versatility of the tarp: you can choose the configuration most adapted to the circunstances, more roomy, more stealthy, more stable, more ventilated, you name it. I usually use smaller tarps most often in diamond config but if I am using the 3×3 (I have a DD but I like better the Varusteleeka) I recently bought the V3 but I've only tried it a sleeping bag / outer bag.

You can pull the two front stakes and stake them in closer together then stick your pack in front of the smaller hole to block draft. I've done that when it got real cold and when it started blowing rain. In colder weather you make the walking stick shorter also. Brings the size of the opening lower (smaller)
