The shadow of Clayton's hanging body was always there. some might have missed it since the focus of the camera is mostly on his machette and Tarzan. I had a friend who didn't noticed it either but later on saw it and was flabbergasted an image like this passed the censors. yet again, we did see Tarzan's parent's corpses lying there as well, blood and all. Disney used to have balls I tell ye

Me too, as a kid all I remembered the scene from Carla finding the treehouse was the feathers floating on the ground, I only saw the blood and the parents’ bodies when I was older (like 10+ years I guess). And then years later I learned about Clayton’s scene from some movie trivia page. Guess I was not the brightest kid!

I saw it when the movie came out. My parents and younger siblings missed it then, thankfully.... But yeah. Years later, they were shocked to see what they had missed too. I have a theory... Most young kids may see the image and not know what it means and discount/forget it... There are ALOT of adult references in our childhood Fave movies...

When I saw it theatrically I totally missed the shadow and thought Clayton had simply fallen out of the tree to his death (which btw is what almost all the book adaptations claimed happened, just like most book adaptations of The Lion King claimed Scar died in the fall).

The size of a character’s eyes is to show how expressive they can be in their faces, as they are the windows to the soul. So, it’s only natural that they are drawn bigger.

Exactly. That and babies' eyes ARE pretty big in proportion to the rest of their skull. It's one of the instinctual things that makes any animal attach itself to their young - most all babies, no matter the species, have large eyes for that reason.

I think that it's a choice they've kept with drawing and designing the characters in each Disney movie ever since The Little Mermaid. It's funny how I never noticed it until it was pointed out to me. I believe it's to give the protagonists a hint of innocence in them.

Tarzan actually has a special place in my heart, cause since I was three up until I was 14 I was part of a local dance studio in my hometown. We performed a gala at the local theatre every year, and one of the themes that we did the most was Disney ❤️❤️. What makes Tarzan special though is that it was actually the first time I ever performed a solo after I went up to the advanced level, and I played the part of Jane. I had the movie so I watched it for the first time in a while to see how to style myself, and ever since watching it has brought up that memory 😍❤️. I performed a routine to You’ll Be In My Heart and Strangers Like Me, and it ended up being one of the last times I ever performed as a full time member. That memory is super special to me, and recently my old instructor sent out a message to all older members available to RSVP for a special 20th anniversary performance ❤️❤️. So I’m gonna return there soon and hopefully see some of my older classmates. Thanks for bringing up such a special memory of my childhood Cody, and I’m exited for Beauty And The Beast cause it’s one of my favorites ❤️❤️

Also, mainly because of “King Kong”, as a child I absolutely loved gorillas, so when I saw this movie for the first time and Kerchak was getting attacked by Sabor, I screamed in fear so loudly my dad came running in and turned the movie off. Don’t ask why I was fine with “King Kong” but not “Tarzan”, I don’t even know myself.

Its easy to forget how much of a badass Tarzan was. I also forgot how dark and serious the movie was at times despite also being funny and witty. I'm also jealous how fit and muscular Tarzan is. The film that marked the end of the Disney Renaissance Era. Compared to its preceding films before it, Tarzan had the most character deaths in Disney animation history (at least until Atlantis came in). Phil Collins also did a splendid job with the most memorable songs in this movie too! Glad he won his Oscar for Best Original Song here! He earned it.

I have to say, Disney's Tarzan has most Epic soundtrack with Lion King and Brother Bear and and this film makes me cry always with the Lion king. I am close to 40 now and this with Lion King belong so heavily in my childhood. Thank you Cody for reacting this! And can we all just appreciate the animation , the look in the eys and faces when Tarzan placed his hands against Jane? The scene is not emotional but also animation perfectness. You can't use CGI to animate those emotions that well.

It's cool that this film, along with Fantasia 2000, ends the era of the Disney renaissance. Although there is some gloom of the original source, it seems to me that Collins' music dilutes it. But after all this comes the post-renaissance, which gave the world more original and experimental works.

YES! Tarzan is my absolute favorite Disney movie! The soundtrack slaps, the animation is gorgeous and it makes me cry every time without fail!

Phil Collins did a great job for songs in this movie. Just like “Brother Bear”

But unlike “Brother Bear “, Phil performed all of the songs for Tarzan.

I’m 31 and one of my faults is that I don’t get emotional at things that are meant to be tear jerkers, but with that being said, I vividly remember sitting in the theater watching this movie and crying during that last Kerchak part! Another scene that gets me every time is in “Inside Out” when Riley comes home to her parents and they’re all together…..when Riley starts crying, I do too! Ugh!
