Taipei has great food, from all ethnicities. Their night markets are awesome, though! I had that ice cream roll at 2:00, and it is fantastic. It's like an egg roll, with cilantro and peanut bar. Sounds weird, but really good.

American kids' attitude towards food really irks me. I remember watching a video where they fed kids beef tongues and they were disgusted before even trying it cause "ew, tongue". In my culture, you're only allowed to spit out stuff if you're a toddler. We are raised to respect food. My dad scoffs me even for using words like "gross" when I describe ANY food.

I agree. I remember in my high school days, if I tried my friend's native food and didn't like it, I would still swallow it and say something subtle like "it's different from anything I've ever tasted" instead of "I hated it" because I wanted to show respect to their culture. I love Hudson Yang's role in Fresh Off the Boat but his reaction to Chinese food reminds me of kids who refuse to sit with their Chinese classmates in the cafeteria because they brought Chinese food for lunch.

Does he not have a proper Chinatown where he is? How can he be so unfamiliar with all the food? There is certainly stinky tofu in NYC, Houston, Dallas, Boston, San Francisco, etc... and they are good.

Chinatown is way different than China. Each region of china has it's own local culture in terms of food . accent. Tradition n lifestyle etc. This includes Taiwan. Sadly most foreigners only know few local cultures of China like Cantonese and Taiwanese. But the fact is there s wayyy more . And the point is they r similar but absolutely different. I bet people will come out with new names to describe them as well. xxxxese.？ Also. Not all Chinese people accept all Chinese food n snacks. There s some Chinese food that i have never and will never experience in my life for example STINKY TOFU. Ignore the modern politics between the mainland China n Taiwan island of course. That's an intense topic which shouldn't be exist on here. Cuz we're here to chill. 🤪
