The US doesn't tend to eat horse or use all parts of the animal. A previous video talked about eating uterus. It would be hard to find an American who would eat that. My city has a Scottish festival. It's considered "brave" to eat a bite of it. When I asked to buy some their expression basically said, "Brain Out Of Order, Try Again Later." It's just a sheep stomach with diced liver, kidneys, cornmeal, and various spices. It tastes like hamburger. However, Americans tend to feel uncomfortable with organ eating it seems. It can only be found in import stores. I haven't really been in an Asian import store. It might be possible to find "exotic" cuts of meat.

If I I remember correctly, the reason why horse meat was so scandalous here in Europe was the fact that it usually had been through many parties before ending up as part of the dish. With no way of making sure it had been handled right, how old it was in many cases, And if it had received antibiotics (or too much in this case) for it to be completely safe. Still, horse meat is great when these things aren't present factors. Love your video :) Found you early one morning this week and have been binging ever since :)

Andrew Scott Yeah, here in America, horses are mainly pets. People race them, too, but no different than having a gray hound that is used for racing but is also a pet. Eating things that are traditionally seen as a pet is very odd for most people. If I visited Japan, I might try horse but I'd feel guilty, lol.

Ugh people who get all gung-ho about not eating horse mean and trying to shame people that do but absolutely love eating cows and deer and pics and turkeys and chickens and etc. are just pathetic hypocrites. I can understand not wanting to eat a dog or a cat as most people have or would love to have one of the two as a pet, we consider them to be our companions, not to mention that they probably would taste pretty bad. Dogs seem like they would taste worse than cats. But horse!? A horse is just as cute a cow. Horses aren't really pets, they are barn animals just the same as a cow. It's hypocriticism at it's worst.

Kids are free range...at least in Tokyo cars. Always crawling about. I`ve lived here for nearly 20 years, and every day they post the traffic fatalities outside of every police box it`s usually just one. 3 would be extreme. That`s 3/38,000,000!! As someone who loves to ride a bicycle, cars are the very least of my worries!!
@Nabium7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was just joking about, I sometimes forget to wear a seat belt myself. But about this argument that Japanese traffic is safe, mind you, I live in Norway and we have less traffic fatalities per capita than Japan. And our roads are often in mountainous and dangerous terrain, with high risk of rock falls and avalanches, and unlike Japan we have frequent snow and ice across the country in the winter and not just in the northern parts. So Japan's lack of accidents doesn't really impress me that much.
@Nabium7 жыл бұрын
Also, where did you get that number, 1-3 out of 38 000 000? 38 000 000 is about the population of metro Tokyo. So I'm presuming the police box release fatality statistics of Tokyo only. But the prefecture Tokyo only has 13 000 000 inhabitants, so it's 1-3 out of 13 000 000. Japan has 5,971 fatalities each year, which is about 16-17 a day. And Japan has about 127 000 000 inhabitants, you divide that with 38 000 000 you get about 3.3, you divide the number of people dying in Japan's traffic each day with 3.3 you get about 5. That means that 5 out of 38 000 000 Japanese people die in traffic accidents every day, not 1-3 as you said.
@alexpurtle72937 жыл бұрын
Wait a sec...soooooo, you are taking a nation wide statistic, deconstructing it, and applying it onto one single city???? Well, heck!! Might as well say that the tropical islands of Okinawa share responsibility for winter deaths that occur in the snow laden Hokkaido!! Did you ever stop to think that Greater Tokyo has an abundance of public transportation that runs late night? The million taxi cabs? People use a fuck load of bicycles? AND walk!!, being the condensed city that Tokyo is?!? Not to mention the ZERO tolerance policy they have towards drinking and driving ie ZERO on your breath?!? Japan`s "lack of accidents" may not "impress" you, but neither does your Norwegian logic impress me!! Now, after deconstructing your logic, should I assume that all Norwegians lack Critical Thought, such as yourself?

@@thesecretlibrary890 Italy is also fond of horse meat. What do you do on Saturday morning in Parma? You visit your local specialised butcher. The only thing I could not get used to was eating it raw, i.e. minced horse meat with some lemon and pepper. But when cooked it tastes really good.

Yes, my favorite line in all of the Lord of the Ring series by far is when Gollum says "I want that ring", and then proceeds to bite off Frodo's finger.

Years ago here in Australia in the 70s they were exporting horse and rabbit as beef. When they got caught, they asked them the ratio of horse meat to rabbit meat they used. "About 50/50". So exactly what does that mean? "About 1 rabbit for every horse". Btw the Germans and Hungarians have been eating it for YEARS and about 4 years ago it became legal here although only one place slaughters a very limited number for the European meats. KANGAROO however, is available MOST SUPERMARKETS over here. It's very rich taste and some may not be able to handle it.

I just got back from the Fursanto Matsuri at Tokyo Dome and had a chance to try the garlic cola. I have to agree that it was surprisingly good. It’s only on the second sip that the mild garlic taste starts to come out, so you have to wait for it. But the garlic really works with the cola. Interesting product.

I appreciate how much variety of food they have in Asia. Here all dishes are the same thing but made different. Like sandwich and steak whit mashed potatoes or rice, salad, burgers or some chicken wings. No matter if is long horn or Denny's or subway, the dishes are nearly the same.

Had basashi in Akita last month and to my surprise found it to be much softer than any I've had in Nagano before. But actually *grilling* horse meat is a concept that had never appeared to me before. Only in Aomori.

Garlic is an anticoagulant, so what if vampires tricked us into thinking they're allergic so that we would eat tons of garlic and our blood won't clot so easy, thus making us EASIER to eat?!?
