Nope, not even the chicken. It's called "meal ready to eat" for a reason, they're all pre-prepared. Heating is optional. Soldiers usually have a hydration pack and you put a little bit of water in it and a chemical reaction happens creating heat, then you put the unopened MRE in to warm it up. Most soldiers in an active combat situation don't actually heat it, or at least not everything because it's just too time consuming. (I know a few people close to me in the military and I used to think the same thing).

Chantal Sauve it's not that time consuming. My husband is in the army (dad was in the marines) and they eat these sometimes for when they're away for training. You can eat these unheated but they taste better heated. Honestly they take at most 5 minutes to get heated it's not that bad.

Jamie Stimpson MREs have a ton of calories & important nutrients so when you're adding all of that sometimes it makes the taste a little off compared to what were used to eating. They have to add all of the extra because sometimes people in the military will go 2 to 3 days without a meal after one of these or only get one a day to survive. Therefore it's important that they have enough nutrient value to keep them going like they have to. My ex said the chili Mac was the best MRE he thought but 😷 lol.

The reason why it tastes bad is because you didn't heat it up. There's a bag in the MRE that you have to our water into the water limit line and put the meal that is still in the bag into the bag with the water and wait about 5-10 minutes for it to cook then carefully take it out of the bag with water and open up the food. Like if you agree ~I know this because I had JROTC camp and we had to eat those for one whole week and deal with what we got

Back when hurricane ike hit we were with power for almost a month and relied on a generator but we couldn't use it as much cause gas stations were running out of gas so my dad would have to go far for gas so we didn't use it as much only if we really needed it. Then we heard that the military were handing out boxes of the MRE's so my dad went and got a couple of boxes and some of the meals were actually pretty good.

I'm in the Army and I laughed my ass off. Word of the wise Shane: Use the green heater packs (it will improve the food greatly, particularly the pork sausage and gravy with a little hot sauce added), and generally anything with the words "Chicken" or "Patty" you just stay away from. Aside that you responded like any new enlisted or officer seeing one for the first time usually would.I'd love to see what you think of the other meals, particularly the Pizza one because its brand new. Anyway love the videos, keep them up man.
