Thanks for sharing! I've enjoyed all these mango updates recently. It's a very pleasant surprise as i had first found your channel for fig growing.

You are welcome! I appreciate your content also! Figs were easy to get into but I could not readily find quality content on growing mangos in dry non-tropical climates. It was a struggle for me initially with bad advice from local nurseries but over time has been a great learning experience.

Thanks, yeah I absolutely agree! There is mostly just advice for tropical conditions which turns into bad advice in our areas😂

Glad you made this video, it’s where I’m heading next. I know you recommended the Malika mango to me in the past but what scares me is finding the right time for picking. If it’s a heavy producer I can see some of the harvest going to waste more than other varieties. You’ll have to do another video on planting the polyembryonic seeds you’ve just collected. I’ve been thinking about trying out some new mango varieties and then seeing if I can grow them in the Phoenix area. Thanks again, and happy gardening!

It is definitely worth ordering a variety box. Not only do you get to experience the taste first-hand but also can grow a tree from a fruit you ate. Unlike grocery store mangos, these are not irradiated and have completely viable seeds. Picking the Mallika is pretty easy--you want it mature size and solid green. It's more the counter ripening you need to watch where you don't want it to go too long. I will be uploading a video on mango seed germination soon.

Hi, I put a Mallika in ground in April, 3 gallon. I am amazed how well it’s doing, a lot of new growth despite the intense heat. It is a grafted so those are usually more sensitive. Thanks for the video, you confirmed all the great things I heard about Mallika! 😊

You are welcome! I had no idea these were so good as many people focus on the designer Zill mangos. It is AMAZING!

Oh yum! Thank you. I'm sending this to my friend in Hawaii. Of course, she can't bring them in, but maybe while she's here, she can get a few and try them.

Kesar Mango - I HIGHLY recommend that you taste and grow this variety. Its flavor is incredible! To me, there is not comparison between its flavor and Kent, Kent, Hayden, Mallika or Alfonso. At least, try growing/grafting it, you won't regret it! It may not be as sweet as other mangos, but the flavor is very unique. btw, excellent comparison video!

Thanks! I have a grafted Kesar growing for the past year from a 3-gallon. It's young so no fruit. Just up-potted to a 15-gallon. Looking forward to it!

@@EnlightenmentGarden Great! Please review it here once it fruits. Of course, like figs, it may not peak its flavor till it matures in the next few years. btw, why not put it in the ground?
@EnlightenmentGarden5 ай бұрын
@@samtrivash7664 Will do! I opted to plant mango seedlings in the ground because they do better in our non-ideal native clay soil than the grafted plants. I'll eventually graft known varieties like Kesar to my seedling trees once they get bigger and scaffolds are in place.

Why you are not growing date palms. You could eat the fruit directly off the Barhi variety in this season.
@EnlightenmentGarden6 ай бұрын
If I had acreage, I absolutely would. Date palms appear to require a lot of growing space as they mature.
@KhawarShafi5 ай бұрын
@@EnlightenmentGarden Few date palms can grow in minimum horizontal space. Every date palm tree has a fountain of youth regardless of variety. Arabs tap the tree from top for lifelong supply. Dates of renowned varieties are a bonus.
