Props to sausages client. I never agreed with having a “human canvas jury” . How are you supposed to feel after getting voted having the worst tattoo on your body? It’s just a negative situation for everyone all around. “Congrats everyone around thinks your fresh new permanent tattoo is trash, oh also, the artist who did it is kicked off the show..” have a nice day
@RainyRunningRiver3 жыл бұрын
And in the last few episodes when all the tattoos are almost perfect the cavases don't have an "eye" for tattoing. Theyre not judging skill or aplication anymore its just aesthetic. After theres only like 8 artists left the human canvases shouldn't have a say.
@firechicken53 жыл бұрын
It’s what they signed up for. They didn’t walk into a shop. They went on a game show.... and as far as ” not having an eye for tattooing” tattoos are an aesthetic thing so if it looks good or bad to regular people than it either is good or bad
@evilskwerl3 жыл бұрын
It’s true that in the end it’s about does it look good to the regular public but in this “competition” technical skill is scrutinized as well as aesthetic, proportion, placement etc. even with so called good looking tattoos , the judges have said many times how they wonder if it certain elements will heal and be visible at all or heal up and just be muddy etc. so I think even when a tattoo is very good looking , underneath it all the judges always have the technical application in the back of their head when judging. It’s why I just don’t think the human canvas jury is necessary at all and is just added as extra drama to make the tv show (because let’s not forget, this is a tv show) more interesting. Either way we all know the whole show is scripted. What they call terrible tattoos are better than any kitchen scratcher apprentice slinging free ink at a walk in.
@fromoz92943 жыл бұрын
@@evilskwerl the show is not completely scripted. that's way too much effort for such a small tv show... thats not how tv works. they throw 2 cameras in the house and hope to get 40 minutes of useable stuff on camera... (no cost, no work, no effort). if not, they have to script shit together to get to the 40 minutes they need for an episode... usually its when they have em talking on the billard table or the group sessions on the couch.
@evilskwerl3 жыл бұрын
@@fromoz9294 I know that much but there is a fair amount of “direction” given at various times to make scenes interesting like “oh hey can you guys maybe get in eachother’s face over this tattoo”etc. there isn’t like some word for word script ofcourse. But these shows, behind the scenes, suffer from “real world syndrome” where in the early days of mtvs the real world, they’d be filming for weeks for literally some 5 minutes of actual “entertaining” footage to air. And what they would call “casual direction” was necessary to create more entertaining tv and not have to blow an entire budget on otherwise uninteresting mindless people.

Honestly dude for this show it’s just sexism and misogyny from the judges, there are other compilations where they’re like oh this is a unbiased anonymous judging and then they’ll be like “I think this is one of the chicks cuz they used purple.” Like what is this? I don't think the canvases should have been allowed for the challenge. Gia was right: that's a 30 hour tattoo. If a canvas won't budge on size, and there's literally no way to give them a decent tattoo in the time allotted, then she shouldn't have been allowed to participate. None of the judges could have done that tattoo to their standard in that time frame. You *shouldn't* do a tattoo that size in one session. It isn't fair to judge something on an arm with something from ribs to mid-thigh.

It teaches you that you need to do a little of everything when in reality it's fine to master your speciality and most importantly it teaches you to have no respect for skin or people. There's no situation where you would need to finish a tattoo under a time limit or have five people work on you. Continuing to tattoo traumatized skin does not make you a good artist. @@AriannaAlexandria I agree ): that was just a really bad mentality to be in. I think a flaw in ink master is stomping (not the best word) over people is rewarded in the game which is what life has to be sometimes but as far as the clients go, I think these artists should also be judged on just being good to their clientele and a part of the problem is maybe calling them “canvases” it’s a free tattoo but part of being ink master should be determined on how good they are with their clients, and not all of that shows in the tattoos. Because at the end of the day it’s a service industry. And like that girl who got the cheetah print tattoos; that looked traumatic, and if it really made her have that bad of an experience there’s a chance that anytime she looks at it, it will just bring the bad experience back so what really is the point of getting that custom piece of art from someone when they advertise that under some circumstance they can have a client leave so rightfully upset? But it’s also tattooing, it’s not corporate America so I get that the judging is what it is and it’s coming from the best, which are still, in Christian’s words. “Fallible” lol sorry for my 3:30 am rant I had a lot to say and am quite invested. I feel so bad for the girl who wanted the cheetah tattoo, being tattoo'd by 4 people at once would be intense for anyone. They completely ignored her pain threshold and limits when she was showing multiple signs of wanting a break. It pushed her to the point of her going through a painful experience that she felt no control over and no longer felt safe, that's violation at that point. of course she had a panic attack. This show treats the people being tattooed so badly, on the one hand I get it’s frustrating because of the time limit but that doesn’t change the fact that the ‘canvases’ are human beings and all have different pain tolerances (especially when in tattooing in the ’real world’ if you’re getting tattooed you can take as many breaks as you need and even book multiple appointments if you need to)
@XERXESDOE3 жыл бұрын
In the ‘real world’ you also pay for your tattoos and the time you take. This is only 6 hours. They aren’t the same, also these human canvases usually already have a tattoo or multiple ones so you’d assume the people understood the pain.
@jigglesklown73593 жыл бұрын
@@XERXESDOE actually it's not like that at all. The are a few shops that will charge by the hour, but 90% of the time you pay per piece. A pre determined amount based on said piece. If the price is $400 for a piece and it takes and hour, it's $400. If that same piece takes 4 hours, it's $400. Plus, these aren't cover up. Just because they have a tattoo on their arm doesn't at all mean they know what it will be like on their ribs.

The judges NEED to take the canvases into consideration when judging tattoos. If the person being tattooed can’t sit still and they’re the reason the tattoo is messed up, or if they’re not willing to compromise on placement of the tattoo, (lose skin area, painful area, etc) don’t take that out on the artists. It’s not fair because in the real world, those tattoos wouldn’t have happened.
