I was out shooting 2 Taurus revolvers today. Recently got both used and today was my first shots with both. At 15 yards, I could make body shots no problem. At 15 feet, I was hitting the bullseye...on occasion that is. But 2" guns are made for very close range shooting. Both of my guns, the 856 and the 692, .38 Spl and .357 Mag respectively, are short barrels. The 856 is a 2" barrel and the 692 is a 3" barrel. The 692 has adjustable rear sight for windage and elevation and it was shooting low so I was able to adjust it up. The 856 has non-adjustable sights. I did install an orange tritium front sight on it, but mine is the black model and the rear sight notch is black as well and I may paint the inset of the sight white. It was really hard to aim for "target" shots in the bright sun. It just washed it all out. My 692 also is black but since it has target style rear sights, they were easier to see as it is a very large and flat rear sight. I may paint it white as well. It has an orange sticker on the front sight and it worked well enough. If I did my part well, I got good results. But if my grip was off, the shots were way off. Moving up from 15 yards to 15 feet, these guns shined today. I was really impressed with them. Thanks for posting!

Have had my Taurus 605 for several months now. I ended up putting a wood grip Taurus sells on mine. Love the way it looks and feels. Allows me to get my whole hand on it. I also have only shot 357 mag out of it so far and it was a nice lil punch. Love it so far and it's my new EDC

I have the 865. When I drove the roll pin out to install the VZ grip the cylinder release lever became very loose and wobbly. How is your cylinder release lever?
@Geobh13 жыл бұрын
Don't worry about the lock the hammer will absolutely not fire when locked. That's the transfer safety bar system trigger has to be fully pulled before firing pin is enabled. Don't worry about. Hold your gun in front of you in the light point it to the left look In between the cylinder and hammer when you pull the trigger, firing pin does not even appear unless trigger fully pulled. Get that worry out of your mind. Next time at the range play with it. It's not going to go off no worries.

I am deciding between the Taurus 605 and Charter Arms Pug. I heard stories about the poor quality of the Taurus. Any suggestions?
@ancientmodernweapons Жыл бұрын
I have only ever heard the opposite. The taurus revolvers are made on the old Smith & Wesson machines. The Charter Arms have had many issues of out of time cylinders because of production restrictions during the pandemic. Just do your research and make sure the firearm works before leaving the store.

What most likely happened was that the projectile in the case was migrating forward as a result of increased recoil from a very light firearm….happens when you have ammo that is not firmly crimped…not a beget but just some ammo is not crimped

@@ancientmodernweapons event little bit helps. 😉 I have the ultra lite 2" 85 and the 3" 856 defender and the defender is a much nicer gun to shoot. The extra weight, not much but enough, and a bit longer sight radius. It all adds up to better.
@ancientmodernweapons3 жыл бұрын
The 856 looks like it has a larger grip which tends to help in revolvers especially shooting hotter loads. I see what you are saying. The increase in one inch of barrel length does not add much velocity and not much else in many other ways, but combined they may feel like a world of difference. Thank you for this chat.
@robertdaone3 жыл бұрын
@@ancientmodernweapons The longer the barrel the more pressure build up and powder burns up more giving it more velocity. You are loosing at least 300 fps when going with a 2" snub nose.
