I bought one of these a couple years ago and they are fun to shoot, shoot like butter, and are very accurate, but no fun to reload every 10 shots. It was clearly designed to pass the rules they had during the gun ban times.

is the lower receiver an aluminum?

No, it is polymer with a stamped sheet metal outer cover on the sides.. it is to robust though.
