thanks for the info. i just bought a used PT111 G2 and may need to know this if I ever use that darn lock. Don't plan but you never know.

Thank you! My idea is to use a trigger lock instead. My gun shop tells me they have sold a lot of this model with no issues. Some of us are lucky to get that small percentage of defects. But, this one is not that all serious. 🙂

I believe there is a small retaining pin for the lock mechanism under the rear sight. Just curious, did this issue start before or after the aftermarket sights? I had the lock on mine engage when the rear sight loosened during a range session (after adding aftermarket sights).

Thanks for the video. I have a PT 24/7 Pro that also has the security key feature on the slide, and I just got my keys today since they were not included with the handgun when I bought it used. Now I will know what to do in case I get this sort of failure.Thank you :-)

Unfortunately, that happens a lot with these products and since COVID. I no longer have that pistol myself. As for my Channel here I haven't posted much in a couple yrs. Lakeline offers a stainless firing pin sleeve without the notch in the original sleeve. The stainless lakeline sleeve renders the allen lock mechanism inoperable, but the lock is useless anyway. I've installed one... no issues.

My son Mike has this same pistol and while I was visiting MN a few weeks ago, his magazine release button failed in that it falls out after the magazine is released. He used some black electrical tape to hold it for now until he finds a fix for it. Getting Taurus to fix these is worthless as it can take 9 mo's or more to get it back. I had heard before I bought a Taurus that they had quality issues in the past. I was told they were much better now. Seems they're still crap. (Gary, Channel Producer)

I found a video where a guy took a .5mm feeler Gauge and cut a notch in it, then slid it behind the mag release button and it captures the mag release so it doesn’t fall out. I tried it tonight and it works.

Thank you! I don't know if there is, but I would imagine it is available by contacting Taurus. I no longer have this pistol but I remember one part was like a small flat tip screw driver and the other an Allen wrench. You may have a small screw driver or Allen wrench that could fit.

I bought this gun when it just came out new at the time. Took it to the shooting range and locked the gun while being loaded. Tested the trigger and the gun went off welding the slide to the metal in the frame! Got a replacement free of charge from Taurus but sold it to a pawn shop because the lock on gun makes the gun dangerous. I never bought a Taurus again...

I tried calling but their voicemail said they were busy with other customers and to call back later. I kept working on the slide and finally got it to break free hopefully it won’t jam up later on.

Gary I will not be using the lock but when it came back from the factory it had been locked. I sent it in because the magazine releas wasn’t allowing the magazine to drop completely out I had to pull it out each time. It has been fixed but has taken almost a year!

I do not think they will fix it..... I am willing to bet -They will send you a cable lock and tell you not to use the lock built into the gun. Or if you send it to them, they will remove the lock on the gun and send you a cable lock. The new G2C is basically the PT111 G2 minus the built in lock.

My g2ç never an issue at all. But really if it's a lock and you lock it I'd rather have it like yours than easy to unlock kid proof . Maybe it was designed on purpose like that for kid safety having a firearm in the home sir. Just a thought.

Thank you! Good question. I don't know. It was a pain to use. I lock up my firearms as all my others. Lock cable thru the receiver, trigger lock. Or a safe. 👍
