You know why this video currently has 314 likes and 0 dislikes? Because you actually show the gun in the light both visibly and clearly as well as make the video about the gun itself and not nonsense that no one cares about. Well done sir. Wish more YT gun videos followed suit. Glad an uploader with common sense is on YT.

I'm not sure if you'd be able to answer this question or not but I will go ahead and ask it anyway. I'm currently trying to decide whether to buy theTaurus 357 Tracker in the video or the 8 shot Smith and Wesson 357 Magnum 627 Pro Series model. Any thoughts on which is better?
@Icarryone
@Icarryone 7 жыл бұрын
To me, it's not really a matter of which is better - that depends more on intended use. If price isn't a factor and gaining one additional round is important, you can always opt to buy the more expensive S&W.

I've been looking at the Taurus. 357 magnum handguns for over a year! I look at their profiles in the adds and sales photos! I originally passed on and overlooked the 627 because of the original shitty looking grip. I settled on the 66 because I loved the look and size of the grip. Yesterday I noticed someone demoing a 627 with a different grip. I loved the improvement in appearance! I started watching the reviews and liked the lighter weight and softer recoil! The 627 is now my favorite for purchase!!! The 66 is now my second! I failed to mention that I can swap out the grip if so desired!!!

I can say that these are really good handguns, I own one myself and it has never had an issue. This has become my favorite revolver. I tend to shoot it more than my model 29. You can't go wrong with this one. I think I paid $450 if my memory serves me correctly. They may be more now. I have owned mine for three years.

I've had a 627 for about 6 years and love it. When I first bought it did have a problem (quality control?). The first time I opened the cylinder it fell out. The bolt that attached the arm to the frame was too small (or damaged), and wouldn't hold. It was send back by the gun shop and 2 month later I finally got to shoot. It was worth the wait.

I've got several Taurus revolver, both old and new. I'm a bit of a collector of Spanish, Brazilian, Mexican, and other Hispanic guns as well as French and Italian(older guns that is for Italian). And out of my Taurus guns, I've got the Raging Judge Magnum in .454 Casull/.45 Colt/ 3 inch .410 shot, an old Taurus .38 imported as the Tiger revolver. 5 shot J frame snubbie, but it's in .38 S&W(short not Special), a Taurus 991 stainless steel in .22 WMR, and old .357 Mag snub nose that I dont recall the model number, and my pride and joy a Taurus Raging Thirty in .30 Carbine. In the 70's and 80's Taurus revolvers had a bad rep.. by early to mid 2000's they fixed that when their semi autos started to have some known issues. But they've since resolved that too. Like you said, that was Taurus then, this is Taurus now. They're making very quality guns that I have yet to have had a major issue with. I've even got some Spanish copies of the S&W N-Frames, one in .44, another in .357, and a .45 Colt version. On the hunt for the elusive .41 Magnum variant. But I've been told how those revolvers made by Astra of mine are junk and so on. Put more than enough hot magnum rounds through them and everything. They're still running just fine.. I believe the people telling us how much crap Taurus is and such are only saying it to either pick it up for themselves later or to keep prices cheap. I see that tactic a lot in collectors. Word gets out that a shipment of guns made in Spain sent to China are coming in, they tell everyone how it's pure junk and garbage, then buy it all up for themselves and jack prices up. But the main thing I love about most all my Taurus guns... For the price I paid, they come with features not seen on the S&W's or Rugers at their price point. Ported barrels, fully adjustable fiber optic sights in some cases, and so on. For all those on a S&W or Ruger they'd be $1,000 dollar guns and stuff.

One of the things I enjoy the most about your reviews is that your approach absolutely lacks the snobbery so common among KZbinrs who can afford both expensive and moderately priced firearms. All too often others will say things like, "Not bad but you really shouldn't settle for less than a Smith & Wesson," ignoring the fact their quality has had its ups and downs as well.

as a reloader for 42 years, gun trading, selling . I have owned many guns although profit always got the better of me because it was extra bill and grocery money. I have smaller collection now and adding when funds allow it. I love ❤️ Taurus pistols and revolvers just as much as my outhers. Taurus spectra 380, pt845 45 acp , tracker 4 inch 44 mag. this can’t be bought from me for love or money. all my self defense weapons in cluding these three work flawlessly on time, every time, any time. anything less won’t be tolerated at all. the lives of my family demands it.

I appreciate that you keep an open mind about Taurus and the changes they've put in place. I recently picked this up, and came home with an issue. Light primer strikes, resulting in non ignition of many .38 sp rounds. Being mechanically inclined, even though never owning a revolver before, I was able to sand down some extra material off the hammer that kept the firing pin from fully extending. I had also heard of snipping a coil off the firing pin return spring. Taurus has some notoriety, but if you dont mind a bit of tweeking and adjusting, they're manageable. I didn't feel like sending it back and waiting forever for customer service to just maybe fix the problem. "Trust me im an engineer."

Because I have been a revolver man, since I first carried one professionally when I was 19 and am now 56, for over 35 years, I have observed that the younger fellows, from 45 on down, seem to prefer the autoloaders for....everything. I presume they are not like the outdoorsmen with whom I grew up. A revolver, like 32, 38, 44 and 45, is extremely reliable, accurate and versatile and those are qualities that autoloaders struggle to match in the outdoors. With target, self defense, hunting and shot loads available, it's tough to beat a revolver for versatility. I suggest you do a set of shows on the wide variety of loads available in a given caliber and utilized in a typical revolver for the outdoors. For example, I carry a Ruger Blackhawk while hunting but carry a Taurus 85 lightweight when hiking or fishing. Each is in 38 caliber and I load them with two each target wadcutters and shotshells, alternating, and two hunting loads to finish out the cylinder. That way, I have good medicine for snakes, pests, small or medium game, and to dispatch wounded animals. I think it would be a valuable demonstration if you could demonstrate the nature of each loading and the range and accuracy of each. As always, I enjoy your professionally produced and narrated shows and appreciate (sometimes drooling) at your fantastic collection.

Nicely done brother. Im looking at the 4" now. I have a S&W 686 8-3/8 barrel but want a 357 I can holster carry in the Southern Utah Mountains which has a lot of Mt Lions and I see deer bones everywhere I hike, its hard NOT to come across them. Plus its hard to whip out such a long barrel for home defense. I have Hellcat 9 mm but a 357 is pretty much a one stop shot as you noted and my revolver will never, ever jam. I wear a POW/MIA patch on the top left of my cut above my insignia. Great stuff, I think you sold me, thanks brother.

I've been wanting a Ruger GP100 for a while. But the last time I priced one at my local big box store they were hovering around $800. I know they say you get what you pay for, but I just don't want to pay that much for a revolver. This Taurus strikes a good balance between quality and affordability.

Ciao dall'Italia.

Great sales job, but it’s all true, so no puffery. In gaining familiarity with magnum loads, I’m finding the porting and medium large frame help with inertial and contra powered stabilization. It’s still a powerful round though. I replaced the Ribber grip with the same Pachmayr grip you mention. That cost < $20 [w/ Prime] and it was a welcome change. I handle the push and lift well, but with pretty large hands I would favor an even larger grip, especially a nice hard rubber like the Diamond grip, but maybe a little longer, straight but with a lengthwise taper and a flare at the bottom end. Yeah, I’m dreaming. There isn’t one extant, but maybe, hmmm. Anyway, that would be a great design grip for a .44 revolver too!

When it comes to magnum revolvers, it's been my experience that the grips need to fit the shooters hand. Otherwise, the shooter will find that particular magnum very uncomfortable to shoot.

this is papa again I reload for my Taurus pt 845 - 45 super. star line brass , power pistol powder, Hornady 185 gr xtp hunting and self defense ammunition in limited quantity. no pressure signs, works flawlessly. around 1200-1260 FPS . this is extremely dangerous and could kill you so don’t do it without calling the factory to find out there rated chamber pressure capibality. and my loads are not maximum charged. Nana and papa aka the hunter wishing you well.

Great video and definitely hit that sub button with a like. I picked up a 627 yesterday. I also have the judge PD in 410 and 45 lc. In comparison they are very similar down to the grip. I feel the 627 may be a little heavier than the judge but that was expected. So far I love it. Can't wait to shoot it but trying to find more ammo is a task in itself. Everyone please refrain from recreational shooting and conserve your ammunition.

+Icarryone I still need to test fire it. I'm curious, are you using a working gun with a lot of rounds through it? If so, what solvents, lub, etc do you use. Some reviewers have talked about difficulty cleaning cylinder flash residue and the area above the ports. This one looks new.
@Icarryone
@Icarryone 8 жыл бұрын
+Rich Weatherly I use normal cleaning solvents & oils - like Hoppe's #9. For stubborn carbon residue I'll use a non-abrasive product like Soft Scrub and a toothbrush to remove build up from around the forcing cone and barrel porting cylinder etc. I did clean & detail this pistol particularly well for this video.

You remind me a little of Charles Bronson. Very nice revolver 7 shot capacity is awesome. But I've been looking at the Rossi lever gun in 357 lately I've seen on a few videos that lever guns put a lot more velocity on revolver rounds and I really like the trigger on single action guns. Anyway a great review though I always like to see you shooting guns if only to see that metal target start flopping around.

Hmm, seems like I may have to take a serious look at Taurus. I've been toying with the idea of getting a 357mag revolver. Which I believe I mentioned to you in another one of your videos(Note: I'm talking about a video he did on leather holsters for 6 shooters, really cool video). I thought about looking into a tracker with a 6 and a half inch barrel. I may just go and do that.

Nice review. I have one and I think it's a nice and competent gun. But, no matter how much I try I really can't shoot well with it. The factory grip is horrible for my hand. I've done some jobs to get the gun smoother for better handling, but the grip still the one that came with it. I'm trying to find this pachmayr #02473 to my gun but it was discontinued by lyman. I would like to know if you know some place to get one ou maybe the Diamond pro for public defender (judge) will fit the tracker.

+xbigbobsagetx If you're looking to conceal carry this pistol good luck. It's a fairly heavy, medium framed, all steel revolver that's perfect for open carry or home defense. As a potent woods or camp pistol it's perfect to carry in a nice belt holster. That aside, you'll really like it.
