Cancellation of FCRA Licenses of NGOs- FCRA license of 6,677 NGOs has been Cancelled for a period of 3 years by Ministry of Home Affairs in the last 5 years. This was stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today on December-07-2022.

Public Notice dated June-22-2022 by FCRA Wing of Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India which may be important for your NGO as follows - The validity of FCRA Registration Certificate of an eligible NGO has been extended as under: - (a) The validity of the Registration Certificate of your NGO which was earlier extended till June-30-2022 in terms of the Public Notice dated March-24-2022 AND the renewal application is pending will stand extended till September-30-2022 OR till the date of disposal of renewal application, whichever is earlier. (b) The validity of those FCRA entities whose 5 years validity period is going to expire during July-01-2022 to September-30-2022 AND who have applied/ apply for renewal before the expiry of 5 years validity period will stand extended upto September-30-2022 OR till the date of disposal of renewal of application, whichever is earlier. In case the application is rejected, the NGO shall not be eligible either to receive the foreign contribution or utilize the foreign contribution received.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) cancels the FCRA license of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF) and Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust (RGCT) headed by Sonia Gandhi on account of misuse of funds and money laundering while receiving funds from foreign countries, including China.

my entity is enacted by the state government and its accounts are audited by CAG. we are exempt from applying for FCRA Registration. How can we apply for FCRA exemption and in which form the application to be made?

हां, एक ट्रस्ट FCRA पंजीकरण के लिए पूरी तरह से योग्य (eligible) है, जो कुछ बुनियादी शर्तों की पूर्ति के अधीन है, जैसे, ट्रस्ट कम से कम 3 साल पुराना होना चाहिए और इस ट्रस्ट ने पिछले 3 वर्षों में Charitable Activities पर कुल 15 लाख रुपये खर्च किए होंगे।

Hello sir , Your speech is really informative. Few queries like ; - Saving or current AC which is mandatory for Trust ? - while opening a trust we have already opened an AC , but For FCRA again we need to open FCRA AC , that means 2 Account.It's a doubt plz clarify sir. Thankyou

Answer No. 1: You can open any Account- Savings or Current, that your choice BUT obviously trust can earn some interest income in case of Savings Bank Account is preferred. Answer No. 2: Yes, if you can planning to apply for FCRA Registration, then as a pre-condition, you shall first be required to open a specific FCRA Account (again, Savings or Current, your wish) with SBI-Parliament Street Branch, New Delhi.
