I have the AD22. Both guitars are wonderful! For me, the AD22 is a once in a lifetime guitar. It’s very special to me and is the exact sound I wanted! I can’t believe that I own it, sometimes I tell my wife I can’t believe I own such a nice guitar! Which ever guitar best suits you and the sound you are looking for is the best for you! Everyone is unique! I’m so very happy with my AD22!

Last month, I bought a GT mahogany. In the store, they had the GT, the AD22 and a Martin 000-15M. Of the three, the AD22 sounded the best by far! Lots of punch and low-mid. The 000-15M sounded good but was lacking low-mid. (Was very surprised..) The GT was sitting between the two. I finally decided to get this one because I wanted at first to upgrade from my GS mini. The GT was the best choice and I love it. By the way, I love watching your channel. Keep up the good work!

Sorry, but I think that’s the most unusual (being nice) reasoning to choose a guitar I’ve ever heard. The AD22e was better by far. But I bought the GT Mahogany 🤔.

So... Having watched a bunch of demos on the GT mahogany I went to my guitar store and did the try outs. GT mahogany Vs GT black top Vs GT urban ash. Whilst sitting there the GT urban ash was the winner to my ears. However, I asked the guy to play whilst I listened out front.... A must for all acoustic demoing. The GT mahogany blew the others out of the water. The tone was so much fuller in front of the guitar than sat a top of it. My experience was confirmed when I got home and recorded the thing. Sounds amazing. The only guitar I own that sounds so much different in playing position than in front. Mahogany GT all the way.

thank you for the comparison of these two magnificent guitars, to my ears the AD seems warmer because it has more bass, the GT has a very similar treble to the AD but since it has less bass it seems more "in your face"

Between these two, i’m go for the AD22 because fits better for the recording studio. The GT sounds beautiful and fuller with that body on the lows but in the mix tends to fight with the bass on that area. AD22 is more close to the “ready sound“ with this slightly low shelving on that area but without loosing the body. It Is more on the juice mid zone. Also the GT has more snappy attack while the AD22 is more sweet and controlled.

Hi, sorry for my english, i'm french 😅 i have a question : i already have a magnificent taylor ad27e. I play it at home and on stage. I'm looking for a smaller mahoganny Taylor and i do hesitate between the ad22e and the Gte : i like fingerpicking but in my band, on stage, i play a lot of "strong" strumming ( my band is a kind of rocky folk duet 😂 ) I'd love to experience a smaller taylor but which one would "fit" the most ??? (Even if i know it's not particulary their field ;) I hope you'll be able to help me :) Thanks for your videos !!!

The AD line is amazing....it's taking over Taylor, as is the Grand Pacific shape. I have an AD17e and a GC3....I miss the GC range, but they are all so good. You cannot go wrong with Taylor. I really want a solid hog, though. I prefer a small body hog due to the warmth and harmonics involved. I have a 1963 Martin 5-15 Tenor guitar that is so amazing, but I really want a taylor hog. Would probably go with the AD22 over the GT ,though. I'm a big guy at 6'3" and 250 lbs.

Why’s the truss rod cover missing from the GT? I have a GT urban ash and AD22. I agree with Cooper. Having them in different tone woods is great. The GT urban ash is a louder guitar. When going to the GT from the AD I find I need to back off a bit.

Would you guys consider making a video on the recent Taylor price hike, with some insight from your prospective as a distributor and some inside knowledge and understanding from manufacturers prospective and from first hand interaction with customers who buy the guitars and understanding their prospective of trying to save money and trying to get the best bang for the money, getting something that depreciates least and sounds best? I didn’t know the prices went up by $500 on the k24ce which I been saving for… Is this something that happens every few years? Is this something blamed on COVID? Wood shortage? New technology/RND spent on developing the new V bracing? Is Taylor trying to revamp its lineup and adjusting the prices to be a even higher tier(unlikely due to the size of its lineup)? Is this a sign for people to buy certain guitars that will be even rarer and less available? I know discussing pricing is a touchy subject, but I’m thinking about the whole lineup and price hike across the board, not just a specific model or at a given retailer or what discounts could be had… Looking at the bigger picture here.

Just bought the GTE Mahogany. Love it. If there is one thing I want in an acoustic it's a smooth, mellow but articulate tone. I hate brash, bright sounding acoustics more than I can convey in words. Taylor are known for bright sounding guitars - so I never thought I would get on with one. But this is wonderful. For my money, this GTE mahogany has a sweeter tone than Martin's equivalent 00 15 series all-mahogany. This has a far nicer strummed voice. The Martin sounds scratchy by comparison and less well-balanced. For a small guitar it isn't boxy sounding at all but open and resonant. Another big bonus over the Martin (which I do like BTW) is its superior playability. It has a shorter scale, more rolled edges on the fretboard and the fretboard itself has a lower radius (i.e more curve). Would have preferred it without electronics, but that's no big deal. A winner if you are after playability and a rich, open voice in a small guitar.

A bigger body guitar will always sound fuller and richer than a smaller body guitar. That's physics. I play guitar as a support to singing, so bigger and louder do not suit my purposes. The AD22e meets my needs much better than a GT or a GA (my fave model that I own a few of already).

I would have preferred Gte Mahogany with the ebony fretboard (like the gs mini) for better balance. The Gs Mini Mahogany is better and costs 1/3 less. The Gte Mahogany has only the ES2 good. But we all know that if Taylor reintroduced the Gs Mini Mahogany ES2 it would no longer sell anything in the slightly higher ranges.

I suspected that. I bought one, and it developed a crack in the back after a few weeks so I had to return it. Maybe just bad luck, but I got the impression it wasn't the first one that had been returned. Might replace it with the AD22, a different construct and of course sapele back and sides (as is the GTe's replacement the AD21e). I'll never know for sure, but that was an AWFULLY quick discontinuance.

I assumed because it was too similar to the AD22e. So when they rolled the GT series into the other series, the GT Mahogany had to go. Also up to that point the cheapest Taylor all Hog was the 324ce which is $2700. About 1k more than the GTe Mahogany.
