The nut width measures out to about 1.72 which is very close to the nut width on a SJ200. The grand theater is probably the easiest playing acoustic guitar out there. The sound that comes out of these guitars belies it’s size thanks to Andy Powers’ bracing wizardry. I love my GTe urban ash. I really like the aesthetic of this guitar.

It's a little odd that Chris likes it so much. He usually prefers the full 1.75" nut. I'd like to see this compared to a Guild M20.

Thanks, Chris. I'd reply to Dad, "I think that's within a 32nd," as we'd finish a building project (livestock feeders, or any project) and he'd say, "Well, I think we're within a 16th." So a 1-23/32 nut (width, not me though I have the T-shirt.)? Yes, it's a great value, and... your ES2 instruction and explanation video is really, really great!

Taylor Primetime did a comparison of the GTs, and I liked the 811e Sitka Spruce top and EI Rosewood B&S, and then they came out with the Alamo GT 611e LTD, maple b&s with Sitka Spruce top. Like them both. Thanks Chris and Cooper

I like Taylor’s move into smaller body sizes. The GS minis are very popular, great for younger players, travel, beginners, but I’ve demo’d them many times and never felt compelled to buy one as they don’t take a flat pick or harder playing very well. Perhaps these will strike my fancy…

I'm thinking of buying one because I love my newi-sh Ibanez Artwood Junior acoustic guitar (with a twenty-four inch scale length) and want a better, all-solid wood acoustic guitar with a spruce top (mine has a solid-mahogany top). Unfortunately, the Taylor AD11E-SB is $2,875.00 after taxes here in Quebec today, August 21, 2023! Thanks for the review Alamo!

I have an earlier AD-17E Blacktop that has the Ovankol instead of Walnut back and sides. I love it, BTW. But can you share your opinion of the differences between the Ovankol and the Walnut?

Yes, Ovangkol is actually African cousin of Rosewood. Walnut takes time to suck Oils properly especially If you use Fretboard Oil then it won’t spread easily. Especially Indian/Brazilian Rosewood are of superior quality and Indian Rosewood has hints of Red & Purple. My personal favourite wood is Ebony Wood which is smoother than Rosewood but Maple fingerboards are awesome too 😊 Importantly, I usually play Electric Guitars so my opinion is purely in the context of how it feels when we play a particular instrument.

I would like the all mahogany version, which is the GTe Mahogany according to the Taylor website. A 12-fret version would be nice. A 1-7/8 nut version would also be nice. I like small body guitars. I do not like pick guards, so how difficult is it to remove one from a new guitar?

I have a Taylor Academy (non electro) and I’m debating what to get as an electro-acoustic. It’s either going to be a GS-Mini or maybe I’ll go solid wood as my forever guitar and this GT could easily be the one. Just need to convince myself I’m ready to spend this much on a guitar (I don’t doubt the guitar is worth it, my playing skills maybe not so much!)

Very confusing naming system. I think there already is a lot of confusion between Taylor series and models for buyers that are not that versed on what all the features are and what might be important to them, especially new players. The martin naming scheme is pretty simple comparatively, but maybe Taylor has a lot more models to contend with?

AD11 attention deficit and one louder than 10, the confusing naming has to hurt resale value, which is a consideration for an expensive purchase. I think Taylor's business model is for it's customers to own three or more of it's guitars simultaneously lol, but it looks like a great guitar though.

The odd thing with the AD series currently is that there are two small bodies (GT and GC) and the original Grand Pacific, but no Grand Auditorium. It's not the first time Taylor has had an American, all-solid line below the 300 series, as the 200 series was like that until about 2014, but that had a 214 and yet there's no AD14.

I actually like these at least as far as what I can see and hear on video. I played the original Urban Ash GT and was underwhelmed, and this coming from a Taylor fan! It was so bright, like annoying bright (as if Taylor needs more of that). I know, I know....maybe it was just THAT Urban Ash, but maybe Taylor didn't move them and so needs to rework the GT again with a different tonewood pairings and finish? I mean come on! I suspect it is the C-Class bracing, which if true, will affect the tone of the guitar more than anything else- so I probably wouldn't dig one of these in my hands either. Just sayin'.

Big fan of Taylor, but I honestly hate the fact that they add their proprietary pickups to practically every guitar that leaves the factory. Come on Taylor, acoustic savvy players are no longer afraid to add the aftermarket pickups of their choice and often install them themselves. I can already here someone saying, “well you can order any Taylor you want without electronics”, but I just want there to be a better chance of going to play a Taylor that wants to follow me home that I have to tell no.

Why are they not able to make things simple ??? A GT was a GT !!! All those identification number are a disaster for customers, does not help anybody and make choice or research crazy. What is wrong with them ??? On your website, they are part of the 300 series. So, now, every time, you have to figure out what series, what ID number and all this BS to figure out what is what !!!!
