Although he's the idol of millions for his drumming prowess, Taylor Hawkins' first rock 'n' roll dreams didn't focus on the drums; rather, they were centered on the guitar because, as he puts it, "Nobody looks at the drummer."

It is just unbelievable that Taylor is not here on earth anymore. I am still in shock a week later. I always thought that dave g. was leading a charmed life, doing so much loving life and now he has lost his best friend and brother. I m so sad for Taylor,s wife and kids, his parents,etc. You were a beautiful presence while you were here. Keep on drumming wherever you are now.💔💔💔

I started noticing when musicians my age began dieing, but these guys dieing that were born in the late 60s on into the 70s is just friggin crazy. Who would have ever though Keith Richard's, and Ozzie would ever outlive Taylor Hawkins, and Cris Cornell. There is just something wrong with that.

Saw Taylor play with Alanis in Seoul, South Korea in 1996. I loved his style then, and love it now. Though back then, he took a lot more liberty in his drumming with Alanis and it showed. It was a great show.

@johnhickman79227 жыл бұрын
Murray Lindsay, from what I remember it was. Because it was over 20 years ago, I'd say it was probably close to $100 back then so for the time, it was expensive. however, there were several of us Americans there and we were in the second row. I remember them covering ABBA's, "Take a Chance On Me" and nailed it. Phenomenal rendition. that same year in Seoul I also saw Bush and Eric Clapton. Two other fantastic shows. The Koreans really responded well to the US music.

if you listen closely to the old drummer and then Taylors drumming the difference is amazing. on same songs done by the old drummer you can hear a subtle difference in beats through out the song, Taylor is spot on every time, no matter if playing on tour or in a garage, the music is much better now.

There are so many great drummers all with their own style, I don't think it's possible to say one is the best. For my personal taste I do love Dave Grohl's drumming. Dave Grohl was so single- minded in what he wants to hear out of his accomplished musicians in creating the FF "sound" (when he wanted to redo the drums on his record with his own) - (The Making of Sonic Highways proves that too) So, speaking of just how Taylor is perfect for him for the last 20 years.. This drummer is definitely the best of the best , he just knows his craft (has great charisma) plus Dave's "interaction" with him in studios & live performances, just add to the dynamism. Thank you for sharing this :)

I dont know why but I dont like how Dave is all engaging and all nice all the time. It takes effort and its respectable behavior but I like more the Nirvana Dave being all awkward and funny at the same time. being all nice all the time is not natural. Its more of an effort and an act seriously. I like natural people more. The ones that act like they are naturally alone by themselves. I dont know there is an element of fakeness in being all engaging super nice and shit. Nobody is that nice naturally. Its commendable but as Ive said - I like people the most when they act the way they act just after getting up from sleep
