This video is edited down and missing parts of the song. I believe she does a couple other numbers. This song was written during her Red album but didn't make the cut at the time, and gave it to Little Big Town to record. She did include it on her Red re-recorded Taylor's version album. If you love her acoustic sets PLEASE watch her Grammy Museum set. Her Wildest Dreams acoustic on electric guitar is divine!

Taylor wrote it but when Little Big Town heard it, they loved it so they asked to release it and put their own twist on the melody. The song won a Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance and was nominated for Best Country Song at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards. Taylor recorded her version of "Better Man", subtitled "Taylor's Version (from the Vault)", for her 2021 re-recorded album, Red (Taylor's Version).

Man she own a room or a stadium with just her voice and a guitar. And those low notes are so good…. And she looked so pretty here. That little girls reaction is what all us Swifties would feel in the same circumstance…

so this video was originally longer. Scott borchetta was talking about her through the second verse and bridge, but after he betrayed Taylor nobody wanted to hear him talk anymore, so they cut most of him out. So now it is a lot shorter. It is really hard to find the original video anywhere these days.

the LBT version was released in 2016; information about awards, writing, video etc is here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Better_Man_(Little_Big_Town_song) The Bluebird Cafe is actually owned by the Nashville Songwriters' Association; this video is part of a documentary called Bluebird; istr it was on Netflix? It was filmed in 2018, before Swift left Big Machine and her relationship with Borchetta was flushed down the toilet.

Yea, Taylor wrote the song and gave it to LBT. it was a huge hit for them. You haven’t listened to Red Taylor’s Version? She added her version of Better Man to the Vault tracks. this video was VERY close to the time of the masters issue, this was in 2019. Here’s the thing. You have to remember that after 15 years, at that time in 2019, she made up around 80% of Big Machine Records revenue. The label was not worth anything without her. Her contract was ending and she was looking elsewhere and had made it clear she wanted to purchase her masters. If he had sold them to her, the label would have been worth next to nothing. He wasn’t looking to sell her masters, he was looking to sell the label. To do that, he either needed HER resigned, or he needed her master catalog. In order to sell the label, he could not have sold her the masters. But he offered her a deal, for every album she produces, he would “gift” her one of her old albums. Which still meant she would never really ‘own’ all her catalog. When he sold to Scooter Braun, he sold the label that included her masters, they were what made the label valuable. He chose 300 million dollars over their relationship they built over those 15 years. She was his first signee, they started the company essentially from the ground, together. So for him to then sell the label and her masters to Scooter, a man who contributed to bullying her for 13 years, was a big deal. But, keep in mind everyone talks about how he sold her masters. He did. But he sold the label that had to include her masters otherwise they label was worthless. I don’t think there is a documentary of the story behind the masters saga. I’ve seen some videos that have gone over it, but they have some information wrong.

How much would she have paid him for the masters and wouldn’t that have been enough money to release the rest of the artists on the label? Not only was she 80% of the label but most of the artists who were on BMG were there because of her.

@@ZATennisFan That’s no doubt true and what he could’ve done if he just wanted to make a reasonable profit and do right by his artists, but instead he chose to make a mint and now his name joins Braun’s as examples of what’s wrong with the music industry. Wonder how much Shamrock Holdings regrets buying Swift’s old catalogue from Scooter now that it’s being devalued by her re-recordings.

@@Pathfinder197 The whole thing stank at the time and it still does. As Taylor herself said "I knew he would sell my music. I just couldn't believe who he sold them to because we have had endless conversations about Scooter Braun and he has 300 million reasons to forget those conversations". It's why she is so passionate about artists owning their work. I agree with her 100% There is something iniquitous about a model whereby some company run by executives makes more money out of art than the artist who created it in the first place. The one advantage Taylor had was as the as the copyright owner of the music she could control where they were used and could re-record them. That whole episode is why her new record deal guarantees that she owns her masters and she "loans" them back to UMG/Republic Records for a set period of time. She has being doing a lot of work behind the scenes in the industry to change the paradigm. I think it's the reason why a lot of the younger artists, upon whom she has been a massive influence, have negotiated similar deals... Backed up by her Dad she has proven to be one very smart business woman. The CEO of her current label said something quite amusing when she signed. He told a story where his daughter said "Daddy, does Taylor Swift work for you?" and said "No. You have that backwards. I work for her and whatever she needs she gets." Aside from her music her influence on the the business of music is going to be felt for a very long time. And it's only the beginning. I predict she is going to turn into one hell of a film director as well. She is a story telling force if nature. Ryan Tedder calls her a song writing savant and I don't think he is wrong.

Late to this but if you’re still following the comments, Taylor Swift performed “Better Man,” “Love Story,” and an acoustic version of “Shake it Off” that night. This would have been in 2018. Bluebird Cafe has a no recording policy so I doubt there’s any fan footage of the performance. The rest of the stuff probably wound up on the cutting room floor for the documentary.

I read that Taylor wrote the song, heard their harmonies in her head, called them and asked them if they wanted to record it. And the rest is history! lol! Which version of the story is correct, I don't know.

Those people got a once in a lifetime experience, hell a once in 100 lifetimes experience when they showed up to the bluebird cafe and was blessed with a small intimate performance by Taylor Swift. Then, on of that, this is actually my absolute favorite live performance from Taylor so they didnt just get the shock of a lifetime...they got the performance of a lifetime!

This clip was I think recorded in 2018 for the Bluebird 35th anniversary documentary which was released in 2019. I think she also performed Shake it off & Love Story during that performance but those weren’t filmed/broadcasted.

According to Taylor, she emailed the song to Little Big Town to see if they would like to record it. They liked it of course. I too don't want to hear Scott B. talk about Taylor. Used to like him back then until he sold Taylor's music to the devil. Anyway, she also performed it at AT&T's Super Saturday Night in Houston in 2016. Thanks for the reaction.
