As a Nikon shooter, it was a must-see on my recent trip to Tokyo last September 2023! Such a unique place to explore Nikon’s history and learn of the impact it has had on photography and photo-journalism this past century. Thanks for a great video!

the f mount was around for so long, makes me wonder how long the z mount will be around and what kinds of lenses we'll see

imagine, just IMAGINE if Nikon would bring back a digital version of the 35Ti with optical viewfinder and fixed 35mm nikkor af lens 🤤

Taylor I am taking my Nikon D5500 to Japan with me this week i am primarily a street photographer. I recently purchased the Nikon 50mm F1.4 and Nikon 85 F 1.8 of which i shall be taking with me on my trip to Japan. Also the other lenses I shall be taking is the Youngnou 35mm F2, Youngnou 50mm, Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-F4 and Tamron 18-200mm. Hopefully going to capture alot of Japan. I have also got new picture profiles on my Nikon D5500 such as the Canon 5D Mark 2, Fuji X T1, Fuji XPRO2, Pentax K2OD and Kodak Gold 200. All these are great additions to my Nikon D5500 picture profiles. I shall be using them while in Japan especially the Canon 5D Mark 2, Fuji XPRO2, and Pentax K20d

Very cool and well done video Taylor. I bet it was cool to speak with Nikon engineers. I’ve read many of the Tails of a Thousand Nights I believe it’s called . Through reading this it’s helped me decide what old Nikkor lenses I want to purchase. I like shooting the old glass on the Z9 especially. Another guide I use it Richard Haws and his lens repair tutorials. He will tell you all about the construction and rendering of the lenses. A very inspiring read are his articles. I shoot the Nikon fe, Nikkor and Nikomat cameras and the Nikon F5 the Beast . Love the history of Nikon . I also use frequently the d810,d500,d850 and the Z9 . Looking forward to what may be coming out next .

I got a chance to go to this museum in 2018 and I was blown away by all the cameras and lenses - so many to see. I enjoyed your video - well paced and interesting. The Zf is a fabulous camera. A bit off topic but what hotel did you stay at in Shinjuku? I was in Tokyo last November, travelling from there to other cities and returning in December. My first stay was at the Hotel Chinzanso, in Bunkyo, and the second was at the Hotel Cerulean in Shibuya. Both were good hotels but I wanted to try Shinjuku next time. Thanks in advance.

We were at Groove Shinjuku for some of it and Excel Tokyu Shibuya for other parts. Groove just opened last year so it’s still reasonable. It’ll get expensive though

@@TaylorJacksonPhoto Thanks. For what it is worth, I am just an amateur and I know next to nothing about wedding photography but I can only imagine that pressure is high. I mentioned the Hotel Chinzanso because it has a fabulous garden that is, I believe, open to the public. I did see lots of wedding parties and the support offered by the hotel staff was very high.

My personal but totally unprovable theory: Nikon took its name by using the “n or ん” in “Nihon / Nippon” (日本) and adding to it, at the time, to the highly prestigious name of Zeiss’ “Ikon”. Cf the highly popular in the 1940s Tanizaki’s main character using a Zeiss Ikon rangefinder. Wasn’t that Nikon’s first product as well?

I think Nikon should have aperture rings on the Z Lenses. Why are there not any 60 megapixels sensor for Nikon ?? I have used (and still own) Nikon FM, Nikon FE and Nikon F3, I do not like that Nikon Lenses turn the "wrong" way, the best ever 25mm SLR analog Camera are the Canon New F-1. The best Lens on a compact pocket camera are the Summarit 40mm 2.4 on the Leica Minilux.
