Yes! This is going to be an amazing build series. Super excited to watch you fab and build the turbo kit. It’s always entertaining watching you do all the wiring and plumbing too, you build super clean harnesses and are ocd when routing your lines, harnesses etc. The twin turbski v8 is going to be killer in that tiny lightweight chassis, all the torque you will ever need down low for them 60ft’s and all the power you will ever need up top for them trap speeds.

@@horsefly1020 you are correct , these cars are already a handful to drive with prep and big tires , If the car starts getting out of shape it will be almost impossible to save it , and it’s even worse with no prep . Cant forget that the chassis was meant for a rotary and will probably have a harder time handling the torque . You would need double frame rails for the torque , and those are virtually impossible to put in the car unless you are very small , and even if you are small the frame rail is gonna press against your thigh , it’s uncomfortable and it’s dangerous. There’s only ONE rx7 that I know of that has done a lot of no prep before and it’s “Bola de Humo “ , that car actually ran on the OG street outlaws show . You might know the car from the 1320video “ the turbo is bigger than the motor “ .

Taylor, I know you like doing work yourself but for some stuff you should try SendCutSend like the aluminum pieces you made for the soft jaws. They can cut and add the holes for the screws. I can’t wait to see what direction you go with the car.✌🏼
@PedroBorgesNH10 ай бұрын
Question 1: why didn't you use the portable bench drill to make the holes on the new plates? I imagine would be easier to make the holes straight. Question 2: why not weld 3 braces (one on each end and one in the middle) of the thinner plate in a way that the vise would support it? would be strong and allow larger pipes. Other than that, great to see the drag build moving forward, hope to see it soon on bradenton going against ol' cleet.

For the dash tool you made, you could also weld the small piece to a nut so that you could use a ratcheting wrench on it. Or just use a 1/4 bit in a 1/4 wrench but that was a pretty big slot, so not sure if that would be enough.

I think you can cut most of the sheetmetal out abover the front frame rail between the strut tower and the firewall with compromising structral integrity to put the turbo in that general area. I would leave the top part to keep the integrity. There is already a 4"-6" hole cut out on the pasengers side. Just continue that cut from the firewall along the frame rail, to the strut tower, to the upper strut bar back to the firewall. There might also be enough room to run the down pipe under the cowl and back into the engine assuming you are doing a turbo methanol engine. You would also lose a little bit of front weight doing it that way. Also shortens the length of down pipe needed saving more weight.
