I'm thinking that solid engine and trans mount comment was some foreshadowing... especially after switching up the tune and running in 3rd, you can see the shifter rock back and forth during clutch kicks. That's probably knocking it out of second if it's hitting the trim when it rocks

I had to do solid trans mounts with my chassis mount in my e36 so it definitely could be
@jasonsparshott7208

That’s exactly what it’s doing… it’s just plain simple sense .. the trans and mtr are moving the shifter is rigid ( hence chassis mount = solid mount to frame rubber mtr and trans mount not solid ) the shifter doesn’t have to hit anything the movement of trans and the non movement of the shifter is enough to knock it out

Hey! Some advice. On damn near every car, especially BMW’s. It is MANDATORY to have at least 75D poly or solid aluminum motor and trans mounts. The motor and trans move around a lot, so with the shifter being directly mounted to the chassis, you will face issues like it popping out of gear or not going into gear. Abusing the car like this with stock mounts can also tear up the trans tunnel where the shifter bolts on. It will tweak and bend it, and in extreme cases it can even tear. Some of my favorite mounts are from AKG Motorsport. Stay away from Condor and Garagistic as they have insanely high NVH and will make your teeth chatter and interior rattle, I prefer solid aluminum over condor or Garagistic stiff polyurethane. Also, 5w-40 > 0w40 for these engines. Especially with hotter climates down here in the southeast. This one is a little more of an opinion, but I’ve been working at dealers and independent repair shops on BMW’s for years and we usually run heavier weight oil. LM 5w-40, Motul 10w-60, 15w-50, sometimes even Rotella 5w-40 or 15w-40 are some of our favorites. I know there could be a lot of controversy about oil weight and type, but this is just my input.

Some of my favorite content is fabricating and I think it would be cool if you built a trailer for the m3. Something designed to handle fast cruising too. I’d enjoy that personally.

Obviously you can do an aftermarket kit with standalone controller, I just wondered if someone had done it in its native setting. It doesn't defeat the purpose of a dual clutch trans. It's so you can drift with a more common dct F80. I'd argue it would be better, you can shift under power through drift etc etc.

Taylor confused me on one thing he said in this video. He said a longer shifter makes it feel more like a race car. I am around circle track drivers mostly and they all prefer short shifters so they can get through the gears quicker Is it just the people I talk to or different types of racers like different length throw of shifters? I thought semidrivers are the ones that like long shifters.
