Your comments about not having a hiking buddy- It would be fun to meet up with you and hike a stretch. Not sure how newbies would train for through hiking, especially at your long(er) distances. We are new to your vlogs and having fun following your progress along the virtual map of the AT on Google. Enjoy!

I watch because I like to watch hiking on the Appalachian trail, but I really enjoy seeing what you do in the towns. I would hike the same way. 👏🏻🥾

Hi Taylor, Discovered you channel about a week ago and all caught up. Enjoy it very much as I am a 62 year old wilderness walker. Have you ever read Bill Bryson's book when he does AT? Bought and read it twice, very good read. Read Wild when it first was out. Very good too. Didn't care for the movie. A recent coincidence, I never heard of those B Stinger Waffle treats until your video. Went into my local Publix and they were on half price rack. Bought a box. Tried it at home. Didn't care for them though. Love Dunkin too. Live in Florida but born and raised in Massachusetts. You take care and thanks for the videos!

We got literally blown off the Trail up there, rain soaking all our gear. As we came down from the Humps and dropped below the elevation, it was like someone switched off the weather. The winds were literally screaming up above us. It was astonishing how different it was away from the summits. You need time to rest, too. I think this is a smart choice.

In 2015, my son and I decided to stay at Overmountain shelter because of forecast overnight bad weather. I’ve heard they’ve since torn it down, but it was a big very old barn on Yellow Mountain. The temps dropped from the upper 60’s to the upper 20’s, and I thought that barn was coming down , the winds shaking the entire structure and concerning the 30+ hikers that sought refuge there that night! We headed out nobo next morning in the 20’s, insane wind blowing, and extremely thick fog! Going over little hump, we had to use our hiking poles as braces to stay upright! I kept asking myself why I was doing this, but when we were in the gap between the humps, everything rapidly changed and we crossed Big Hump in warm, cloud and fog free conditions! That answered my question! Ha! It’s one of my fondest hiking memories!

I have always regretted not staying at Overmountian shelter, just because it looked so cool. We hiked the AT before cell phones and had NO idea the weather was so bad ahead. Like you, we huddled in the gap between the Humps and put on our rain gear there (because who knew?) and ate the only Moonpie I have ever had. Good times!

You’re crushing it! Enjoy the journey… going to never end and before you know it you’ll be climbing down from Mt. Kathdin…The hardest part will returning home with all the super powers that you developed within yourself while traveling alone but then realizing that no one else did while you were gone… always wanted to do the AT but getting older now (65) and just can’t… did ride a bicycle from Boston-Key West and Boston-California all solo and stealth camping most nights. You have a great life! Andrew

Greetings from Norway! Smart move to take a break👍 It can be fun with stormy weather, but it's something else to sleep and hike 10-20miles in it! Enjoying ur videos😀 But not sure atm if it's good or bad for me mentally😅Currently recovering from ACL surgery so feeling pretty eager to get out there🙋♀ Maybe I will get to this trail someday, looks fun, but hard and kinda scary with snakes and bears😬 The venom snake we got usually are the young ones that don't know when to use it's venom, but have not heard of any deaths🤔 and the Wolfes Far East have-not killes anybody in 150years, so I guess our biggest fear is ticks😅 Hope you have a Wonderfull hike further on and eat a lot of snickers and Gatorades😃
