My best friend and I both lost our moms in our teens, oddly enough just 4 years apart but in the same month. September. Even though I’m a mom Mother’s Day is still hard for me. Of course it’s not her favorite day either. We decided we’ll take a bestie trip either next May or maybe September. This guide could not have come at a better time! As a fellow Seattleite, I have to say that you've come up with a great list - some of these places are ones I've never been to, so I'm eager to check them out now that things are reopening! RGB - YES! Grab lunch and go sit at RGB and people-watch. Their pineapple ginger beer is my fave. I worked DT for YEARS and my hands-down favorite place is Von's Gustobistro on 1st and University. I used to work in the high-rise above the Seattle Art Museum and went to Von's at least two or three times per month - I've had many a client lunch there as well as fun birthday lunches. They have a wheel they spin on the hour to find out the next drink special and have tons of liquors to choose from. I've had just about everything on their menu and have never been disappointed. My recommendation is to have their pesto pasta with chicken and mushrooms added though - they make their own sourdough pasta in-house and it's incredibly good. It's where I've taken out-of-town visitors and they always like it. I also recommend Noi, which is a fancy little Thai restaurant on the Harbor Steps - they make a mean curry and even more amazing Pad See Ew. nom. They look expensive because of how lush their interior design is, but they are quite affordable. :-)

The Athenian inside Pike Place is a great place to eat, great views, less expensive diner style. The fish counters in Pike Place will shuck oysters for you, just like 3 at a time if you want a few but not a sit down expensive oyster plate. I know locals kinda bag on the Market, but its actually Seattle businesses and artisans mostly. Especially in the off season it is really fun to walk around. The donut place there is great. Wallingford area is great for little restaurants and shopping too. Great video. Gasworks is the best. Mariners have great inexpensive tickets if ur into that. Benaroya Hall is INCREDIBLE if you want to see the symphony or a mutlitude of artists that book there (when they are open of course.)

Great recommendations, especially for food! As someone who has lived in Seattle since 2014, one thing to know is that the city is quite hilly and walking from neighborhood to neighborhood is exhausting. Public transport is doable but it’s not amazing, so consider renting a car or knowing you’ll spend money on Ubers if you visit.
@april17twilight3 жыл бұрын
Oh and Seattle has a HUGE craft beer scene. Fremont, Optimism, Reubens are some popular breweries. Ballard has like 10+ breweries within a few blocks of each other if you want to check out a few in one day.
@historygirl823 жыл бұрын
I agree about the hills and to be prepared if you plan on doing a lot of walking but disagree about renting a car. Parking is such a hassle in most neighborhoods, plus there's a national rental car shortage so prices are $$$$ right now for rentals. Our public transit is pretty reliable and affordable. If you mostly stick to that and the occasional Uber/Lyft you'll save so much money vs a car rental and parking.
@april17twilight3 жыл бұрын
@@historygirl82 Totally should have elaborated on the parking. I feel you that parking isn't always easy but 1) Lyft/Uber prices are also reallyyy bad right now so not sure how much you'd save there and 2) if you plan on doing any sort of hiking which many Seattle tourists do, you'll need a car. However if someone hates driving/parking or are comfortable with public transit then yeah, no need for a car!
