My husband’s aunt made us a nikkah nama. It was so sweet and something we overlooked when getting ready for our wedding. Note to those getting married soon: put down everything you need from marriage in the contract. For women especially, woman-initiated divorce is such a taboo but it is so important!

@@zg6085 that's the problem, after marriage a husband can take your support system away and because he's your husband you must obey him. There are so many husbands who forbid their wives from seeing friends, talking to family ect, and the wives have no choice but to obey because divorce is so hard. I'm disabled so if my future husband stopped me from seeing friends and family I would be stuck as I wouldn't be able to escape on my own. A disabled spouse has the highest risk for abuse and I won't risk it. I'm 23 and no man wants me, I used to cry over that but perhapse this is a blessing in disguise. Because Allah knows should a husband abuse me, I will have no way to escape due to my disability, so perhapse Allah is protecting me by not giving me a husband in this dunya :)

Dear Tazzy: In Arabic, the highly decorated & hand written marriage contract is “el kitab”; in Hebrew it is a paper contract detailing the marriage union that is specially written by a trained RABBI called a scribe using a silver nib on a pure white dove’s feather & its called a “Ketubah”; while in Urdu it is “nikah” or “nikka nama”! Interesting the early connections between related Semitic cultural practices & the labels used for these social objects! Would enjoy reading more details about the nikah! Oh, May You Both Be Endlessly Blessed with much joyous happiness, eternal & bountiful congratulations and enjoy the wonder of marriage every new day you spend growing together . Getl Kasper

I think when it comes to marriage, it's your life and therefore your rules. On the topic of femininity and looking a certain way for your husband, I think as great as it is that the outlook on dressing is not limited anymore. But by the same token, let's 1. Keep in mind there is such a thing as letting oneself go and 2. men need to look good. We're both humans and thus both are visual. Same goes for courting, women may choose to do the cooking and cleaning however men should not forget we like the dates and gifts or whatever love language works best. Essentially, as millennials, lets make changes where we want but not bash traditions that aren't toxic.

The last advice was for me the most special. I love my pyjamas, but a lot of my friends tell me to stop wearing those village grandma style pyjamas and even, when talking with my sister and mom about marriage, we always end up talking the we have to change our whole closet if we are going to marry. Ok, the torn leggins and underwear etc can be exchanged haha but not the rest. And I also wonder a lot about hairs. I am a hella hairy girl and I don't plan to wax my whole body every few weeks. That's painful and he doesn't wax his whole body for me either, but, at the same time, I don't want to be a turn off. Sometimes, when I think about all the years of pain from waxing, I just don't want to marry.

@StxpTheGenxcide4 жыл бұрын
@@alphafish4756 yes, I thought about it, but God created us this way. I don't really understand why we have to put our bodies under danger (it is said to be cancerous and the long term consequences of being hairless is not known yet) and have to pay a high price to fit the social norm. I want to be accepted this way. Yes, I don't like the sight of them. I want a bling bling body too, but that's how I look like. Thank you though, I heard a lot about it, but I think that it is sad that we have to make a lifelong change on our body to make ourselves accepted. I wished that we wouldn't wax all the time just like we don't dress up all the time (e.g. for our husband). Those bling bling shiny legs should be something appreciated and then, it would also maybe be worth the few hours of pain.
@anannarafa39844 жыл бұрын
@@StxpTheGenxcide you don’t really. To be honest. I’m sure your husband will get used to it. You are both human. Just pick the person most accepting and understanding. And talk about it before even getting married if that’s possible for you. I have been dating someone longer than most people’s marriages, around 7 years and if he can be ok with me being hairy sometimes for that long I’m sure any man is capable of the same degree of leniency
@StxpTheGenxcide4 жыл бұрын
@@anannarafa3984 The problem is how do you say it. And then, there are those men saying they are fine with it, because they don't know what you mean by hairy. Some men don't understand how hairy a women can be. They think you have some thin, almost invisible hairs on your legs and arms. Yes, there are plenty of women like this, but I am not one of them. Aaah I don't know.

Just so everyone knows: I did Law and: ANY contract is binding in Canada from promising something verbally to a hand written note with a promise/agreement. So anything regarding Islamic contracts for Nikka, will count under state law as long as there is written proof. Plus, more than that, God is a witness to wt you promise and ur intentions. And Allah (SWT) is the biggest witness so we should be worry about that more then the actual law. I’m not getting legally married until about five years after my Nikkah and I’m definitely having a prenup. It’s just too binding it’s way easier to get divorced in Islam without going through financial hardship then by the state.
@AlabasterMuslim4 жыл бұрын
Just a little heads up, if you have kids before being legally married and then try to get them citizenship in a muslim country...it can be difficult. They don't take your Islamic document seriously and therefore your kid is not attributed to your husband. Birth certificates don't matter, either. But maybe this doesn't apply to you at all haha.

@xylema.4 жыл бұрын
Sabaa Logman I’m not talking about children at all? The main issue is that nikkah-only marriages come with a host of problems and are ripe for abuse. Legal rights for spouses can't be enforced without a marriage contract. Another problem is getting a divorce, this is especially prevalent in British Muslim communities where legal marriages are very rare and this people who want to seek a divorce have to go through these informal "Shariah courts" which is basically a few imams in a room who decide if a divorce is granted or not. They've been extensively documented as extremely difficult to work with and have denied divorces to people in abusive homes. You do you sis but it’s a real risk which can be sorted out easily
@sabaalogman75254 жыл бұрын
@@xylema. I’m thankfully not from there and I have a lot of imams and sheiks around me who aren’t like that. Plus getting legally divorced in America can take years and depending on the situation can be really messy. If your in an abusive relationship being legally married isn’t going to make it any better it just makes the whole divorce process uglier and if their physically abusive abusive the police can get involved whether it’s legal or not. Plus what are my legal rights I personally don’t want their money or inheritance if they happen to die with in those first five years I understand how it can be helpful in some cases just don’t think it does for me personally.
