Back in the 1990s/2000, the import guys put racing steering wheels on their cars that had a pin lock. You could take off the steering wheel so no one could steer the car. Air bags and electronics prevent that now. But it was a cool way to stop a low-key car jacker.

They are like the Volkswagens back in the 80s. The parts were interchangeable. You could buy a 1978 convertible rabbit and build a cabriolet from 1990. After you paint the car you couldn’t tell the difference.

The mass production of these cars from an engineering standpoint requires interchangeability between parts, and for the frames to line up for engine, transmission, and suspension mounting. Especially since they all run the same series of engines

What will eventually happen will be like the sportbike meetups 20 plus years ago. Car meet ups will get swarmed by cops that will check vin, blocks, transmission's, and frames, if you put up a fight it will be certainly towed for further inspection. When they get more police and train them for what to look for.

I can tell you first-hand police eye chargers and challengers when on the road more than any other vehicle to include Kia. Also, it is known to check the VIN on the engine they get stolen so much. Ask me how I know! 😂
