It's like that in the NFL too. When the dirtiest player in the NFL Vontaze Burfict got completely laid out by Juju Smith-Shuster the announcers about had a heart attack. They seemed ready to tear Juju a new one. To be honest I'm pretty sure it's like that in most sports when a dirty player or a teammate of a dirty player announcers are ready to kill you but when these same dudes do the same crap the announcers either turn a blind eye or downplay it. I mean in this very same game shortly after the hit to Charlie Marchand speared a guy in the groin and Jack Edwards just calmly said he hoped it was only a minor penalty.

I kind of agree. A shove off the face-off is pretty common to keep the other guy away from the puck. I think the other player just wasn't paying attention to how much stick was poking out and put it in a bad area. Penalty? Sure, but I wouldn't classify that as "dirty" in the hockey sense.
