Everything I'm going to point out is not intended to be a dick, it's just so you (and anyone reading this) can learn and have a better immersion experience flying this highly realistic aircraft. Minimums are the altitude at which if you can't see the runway while on an instrument approach (like an ILS) you must go around. You can find them in the chart. Pitot heats stay off for taxi because there's no cooling air flowing over them so they could potentially overheat. The no wind data on ground is because you aren't flying. The wind data only shows information above a certain speed. The "run up" is not a run up; that's a piston aircraft thing. You go to high idle to test the feathering system to make sure it's working. I would suggest setting some right rudder trim before takeoff, it will help combat the left turning tendencies of a prop plane ( anywhere between the middle line and green line is fine) ECS info is the environmental control system, it shows stuff like cabin altitude, cabin temp etc You kept blowing through the GS because you weren't anticipating the capture. When you ended up too high it's because you didn't lower the nose until after you were too high. You didn't say anything about power so I can't know if you know, but 15% NG is a good power setting for full flaps, gear down on final. It will give you a good speed and descent rate The reason you immediately skipped off to the left when you touched down is because you landed in the crab. You need to use rudder to straighten the airplane up and lower the wings INTO the wind before landing. The GS not capturing had nothing to do with the yaw damper being off. All it does is act as an auto rudder, and you need it off before landing. You should turn off the AC, bleeds, and press switch before shutting down the engine. Pitot heats should come off after landing while taxiing for the above reason. Overall though you seemed to be pretty knowledgeable and flew the airplane well. Most of what I pointed out are TBM specific things that you can't be expected to know lol

Awesome video!! Im only a couple years late lol... I just recently purchased this plane and have been having a blast. I know you probably know this but.... you were looking for DME to see if the ILS was active... but OPFs localizer doesnt have DME capes... so that's why you never saw distance. @@BluGames Did you ever work out why APR mode didn't do anything?
@plasmavor16 жыл бұрын
The autopilot didn’t capture the GS because your lateral mode was ROL instead of LOC so the aircraft was just holding the wings level instead of following the localiser. Presumably this is a safety feature so the autopilot doesn’t descend on the glideslope when not established on the localiser.
@BluGames6 жыл бұрын
Thank you i am trying again

Yeah, when he scrolled through the nav modes, it killed the APR selection for ROL. Pretty realistic.

@greggseipp5 жыл бұрын
Also, you *had* the localizer just fine...the ID was visible and your status bar said LOC. (You could have also confirmed it by turning on the speaker for NAV1 to hear the Morse code.) The dashed lines above the ID near the HSI were for DME but the localizer doesn't provide DME on that approach...so they were dashes. Maybe that's what confused you. I learned a lot from this video that explains nuances of the system. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ip-yhqt4mbJlo5Y
@thiscorrosion9005 жыл бұрын
Yep, when you are doing ILS or an RNAV Garmin approach, once activated, if that AP switches off or to ROL, it will not follow through, or if ILS, the LOC has to be locked on and active. Usually with the RNAV it will automatically start working as long as you've nailed the IAF altitude, and hit the APR button ahead of that. ILS almost the same situation. It's easy to hit the button twice, or miss something, and then the approach will not work, and you'll get a fly-by at best. Looks like you nailed the VNAV/GS but not the Localizer.

@Blu Games and others. Can't remember the last time I watched KZbin for an hour+ and wanted to start over afterward. I'm new to flying (very new) and I'd love to know what first steps you took that ultimately led to flying a full-featured aircraft like the TBM? Did you go to flight school? Learn from a pilot-friend or relative? Did you start with more "simple" aircraft and work your way up? If you had it to do over, where would you start (online flight training, beat the heck out of sims until you figure it out, forums, all of the above, other)? This video is brilliant because @Blu Games knows a lot about flying, and even admits shortcomings along the way. Its overwhelming for a noob like me, so I'd just like to know some of the first steps you all took to understand this information so well.

minimums are the weather minima for the approach. They are only for weather. If you don't see the runway at the minimum, you gotta go around. They are either altitude (in relation to sea level) or height (in relation to GND). You can only use height if you have the necessary equipment (laser or something like that)

Thanks for a great video! Your system should be plenty powerful for x-plane 11 even with several addons. Couple of key things to try are exclude real time virus scanning from X-Plane folders. Make sure the game isn’t trying to load more textures than your 1080 card has available in physical Vram. Reflections and anti-aliasing are worth messing about with as they affect frame rate hugely and don’t necessarily add a lot to the game. Make sure nvidia control panel power is optimised for max performance and your pc is on a high performance power plan and not thermal throttling. Update all motherboard, sound and gfx card drivers. Can try running in windowed mode, if it feels better there’s a free app that forces it to full screen. For a more realistic experience frame rate is key (imo) cheers!

That's great that XP11 has another plane full of substance/dynamics, but the visual quality of this plane could've been a tad bit better for the price. Idk.. For 3/4 the cost of the DCS F-14 coming out, this is a no-go.. but that's just me.
@eddieusry30016 жыл бұрын
I agree that there could have been just a tad better visual quality BUT this plane is very nice looking AND so far everything works! Everything seems to be modeled and all of the avionics work as you would expect. Frankly i am fed up with buying a plane that looks marvelous but when you start flying major components don’t work! Carenado is Very bad about this. In fact most things from them such as tbn850 you cannot start the stupid thing it just goes up in smoke on start up. The only way to fly it is to let it auto start on startup and when you pay 30 to 40 bucks for the thing I don’t care how pretty it looks. There are a couple of planes that when you set your course in your flight plan and push nav gps it takes off in a 90 deg right turn and who knows where you will head to. So yes this plane is a bit pricey, i can fly it and stuff just works! Including Weather and all the extra cool stuff they put into it. Carenado, Take notice in my opinion you are not top dog anymore...there’s a new dog in town and they are paying attention to the whole plane. Thank you HotStart!

@olasek79725 жыл бұрын
Bobby Everette from what I heard this is the best G1000 in a GA sim, the problem is folks who shoot those videos don’t know how to operate it in an IFR environment, so they don’t know how to put it through its paces. I also fly a Cirrus equipped G1000 in real life and I am instrument rated. I am yet to see a properly armed and flown LPV approach..... minutes ago I came across another video “rich kid flies to Las Vegas” and this is the first video where 5his aircraft flies proper LNAV+V approach with VPATH/ALTV and other “advanced” annunciations, this tells me it is indeed quite complete simulation (even if some obscure G1000 pages are missing) stuff like that you won’t see in other PC sims.
@olasek79725 жыл бұрын
Also, the default G1000 was programmed by flight instructor called Philipp Ringler, you can watch his extensive videos on the subject of features of this “default” simulation, he has like 3 hrs combined on VNAV and different approaches, plus some more, so since there are some slight difference between different G1000 (say Cirrus Perspective G1000 is slightly different than Cessna 172 G1000) someone implementing a new G1000 aircraft in X Plane simple takes the default version and adds whatever differences are needed - so no need to reinvent the wheel. TBM would obviously need a completely different engine page than the default G1000. So you don’t have situation like in FSX when every developer who wants his own G1000 starts from scratch and provides his own implementation - very laborious process and hence all those implementation suffer from significant shortcomings.
