1:38 is wildly inaccurate even for the south. By the 80’s Carl Sagan was still coming off the Pulitzer Prize fame, and was host of literally one of the most watched series to ever grace public television. He was a household, very well known name in the 80’s as his work as a professor, public educator and entertainer, and scientist all culminated into one force. If she hadn’t have been able to tell by costume, she would’ve for sure have heard the name “Carl Sagan”. Even if it was just a “oh the science guy!”. He was a highly recognizable figure in the 80s.
