Sheldon Fights Jason Davies With His Slingshot (Clip) | Young Sheldon | TBS

Sheldon to stop the brawl he started between Tommy Clarkson and Jason Davies. He reaches the school yard just in time ordering Jason to fight him instead. Taking the offer, Jason says he’d love to kick both of their asses. Sheldon in turn threatens to slingshot a rock at him like David and Goliath from The Bible. Davies agrees, saying it’d be his turn to fight next. Sheldon slings the rock right on his forehead and runs in the opposite direction.

I don't like to be touched and a lot of my female friends saw that as an invitation and it basically turned into tickle fights. had I known I was leaving marks I would have just told them to stay the f away from me right off the bat. we all have our coping mechanisms, but really no one should be touching us anyways

What is stupid here is that if Jason does play for the football team then that means he was stupid enough to try and beat up the coach's kid. Any coach would either kick them off the team and blacklist from every college they can or make them run a million yards until they puke then put them on a drill where they're hit from every direction.

Considering Sheldon's supposed intelligence, he should have been able to not only make the calculations to hit his target just right (which he did), he also should have been able to calculate the force needed to knock out the bully with his one shot (mass of rock, velocity, how far back to pull the elastic, etc). The bully should have been knocked on his ass.

“Calculations to hit target” smh calculations don’t mean shit if it’s a human carrying out the task. What he should have done is gone to the chemistry lab, filled a balloon with acid, and launched that. That would cause a lot of damage and force the bully to back off.

@@destruct0503 It can work that way. I have an IQ of 180, and I could have done it. In fact, I kind of already did. I used calculations of wind, elevation, distance, and propulsive force to hit a small sign a half a mile away with a .22 caliber rifle on my first shot. I used to work night shift at a wastewater treatment plant by a river, and there had been a lot of snake sightings (water moccasins, copperhead, and rattlesnakes). So one morning the boss brought his .22 rifle to work. I asked if I could try it out, the other guys jokingly pointed out the sign because they didn't believe anyone there could hit it, but I did. I fired the shot and a couple of seconds later we heard the sign get hit. Snipers make those kind of calculations all the time (though tbh, they like to know the wind speed as accurately as they can get it before pulling the trigger). I believe they once claimed that Sheldon's IQ to be at 189 or 190. So if I could do it, so could he.

I think part of it was that he didn't have the right tools at hand. The elastic strap of his safety goggles simply isn't strong enough to do the job. Perhaps he thought that the story of David v. Goliath and producing an improvised slingshot would be enough to dissuade the bully. He wasn't prepared for his bluff to really be called.

@@twanens9312 James is wearing a jacket that I am assuming indicates he is football team. If nothing else he will be in some sort of shape that is not horrible. Could be plenty fast. If he is a lineman then he will also be at least somewhat strong. Tommy is leaner, therefor faster, but without skills or experience in fighting, which there is no indication of in the show, I would give odds to James.

That was pretty gutsy of Sheldon. However, the obvious flaw with his plan is that David had the good fortune and common sense to actually kill Goliath with the rock. Plus, launching the rock with an actual sling would've been a better idea.

Wow, it almost looked as though He aimed it at the eye, Sheldon! My great-grandma was born in 1896 and used the sling shot's in The Bible. She could make bows and arrow's. My mom said in the 50s and 60s she and my uncle made Bobby pin gun's/and a potato gun/rubber band's mom confirmed that they Hurt. That slingshot sends a horse running with a rider on their back!

We fought in school a lot. The principle was a coach and always seemed to know about scheduled fights. He made us wear boxing gloves (16 oz). You can't really hurt anyone with those and they tire you out fast. Still in my career I was 12-0 over 4 years. I actually got 1 KO (James Musclewhite). I didn't even have to shake his hand because he was sitting there crying like a baby. We became friends later and used to go Shrimping on his Uncles boat. This was 50 years ago and times were different then.
