I had no expectations going in, but after watching I can’t stop thinking about it. What a powerhouse film. Diane Keaton is so beautiful.

I was fortunate to catch "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" on VHS back in 2009. The very end to that film is chilling.

Vinegar Syndrome is going to release this movie on 4K and blu-ray at some point either the end of this year or next year, the music rights have been reportedly cleared.

I just got the Vinegar Syndrome Blu-ray. It looks fantastic and has all the original songs! The ending has lost none of its impact.

@bpay7535 actually one song was changed about 32 minutes in, was a Frank Sinatra song

@@lunaracc914 Is that the watching porno scene with Tuesday Weld? More accurately, I should say all the credited songs are there. I'll take the one changed song. Never thought I would see this on Blu-ray in my lifetime.

I only caught bits of it over the years but I finally watched it for the first time the night they aired this little breakdown last month. And lucky for me somehow I'd never heard how it ends. Disturbing always hits harder when you're not expecting it. It's easily one of the most iconic, gritty 70s films, I couldn't believe I'd avoided it until now.

A way underrated film. Anyone out and about and with especially any substance abuse problems back then, this time period, was just like this in certain circles. That ending, whoa. Never forgot it. Cautionary tale. Poor women at this time fighting for their rights, freedoms, and they swung to an unsafe extreme. Still do.

Mario Cantone is hilarious always, but when he impersonated Ben Mankiewic I laughed out loud! So glad he'll be here every friday till the end of the month!

I saw it in college with a friend who had scoliosis, as had I, and we both went through the same surgery as the Diane Keaton character did in the movie. We were laughing at the melodrama of the scoliosis scenes and how the rest of the audience was reacting to it. We took a cab to the theater, and the cabby had told us how one of her fares had tried to rape her (she was able to get the police on the dispatch). With what the cabby told us, the movie didn't faze us either.

I remember when this came out. My friend who was a grade school teacher said she liked it. So it happy to find it - I loathed it.

All I felt is - sexual coming out - yuck - this woman was nuts. It creeped me out - poor woman was so repressed her father was awful - so she acted out. She's was looking for a mean sob - not liberation.

Our neighborhood theatre always let kids in to see R-rated movies unchaperoned. I went by myself to see Looking for Mr. Goodbar at 13-years old. 🍿 I’d already seen The Godfather, Billy Jack, The French Connection, Dog Day Afternoon, The Last Picture Show, Rosemary’s Baby, Easy Rider, Jaws, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, The Exorcist, etc., so I was somewhat desensitized. I would walk the nearly two miles to the theater from home. Movies would usually begin with a cartoon and were always double features. If it was dark when the movie let out, I would call my mom to come get me.

I understand the Movie was based on a 'true to life' story of the character Diane Keaton played, but the movie wouldve/could've been much more applauded without the macabre ending......and I don't think editing the ending would've made the movie any less appealing........

Was the movie unedited on TCM?
@eddiejoewalt77466 ай бұрын
most of movies aired on TCM is uncensored
@D-Fens_16325 ай бұрын
Unedited as far as I could tell (perhaps some changes have been made since the 70s but regarding language and nudity, it was uncensored).

I saw the unedited version on the late late movies channel 41 back in the mid 1980s. I recorded the late and late late movies every night on vhs and would check the next day to see what the movies were. Since then all tv movies are censored reguardless of the time aired.
