... One of the funniest moments in boardgaming reviews "that's why we're all speaking French and Indian today". ... I laughed out loud... Love ur reviews... Sorry we won't be seeing much of you anymore... Great luck in Tejas with your PhD!

Great review. I played a full game of this at Origins 2017, and loved it. First one of the series I tried, and looking forward to playing the sister games (especially 1775). Highly recommend this game.

I remember reading the Crucible of War back in college. Quite a good book. There is another good book on the difference in style of warfare that was a nice read too about that time period. Can't remember the name though its packed away in some closet.

My friend had the same feeling regarding 1775 vs. 1754 and preferred the colony control of 1775. To me, it's a non-issue because helps differentiate the two games in tone. Colony control works and feels right in 1775 because it reflects the realities of the AWI. Whereas the F&IW was a wide front between two countries with specific strategic avenues of advance. Colony control (in the vein of 1775) doesn't feel right for a F&IW game because that was not the goal-each side tried to control specific strategic objectives irrespective of the colonies themselves, which I think 1754 captures that feeling by weighting certain areas as objective areas.

Does it have that ambush scene from The Last of The Mohicans ?

Fort William Henry is in the game!

Is this worth getting if you already have another game in this series?
@TheDiscriminatingGamer3 жыл бұрын
It depends on whether or not you want the variation. In my opinion, 1775: Rebellion is the best in the series, and it is the only one I currently have.

Yes but did you really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really like it?

Not as many "reallies" as 1775, but still a lot of them...

I never notice that, but I do hear a lot of "of course"s throughout his reviews. So, we may disagree, you and I, on what he may say too often, but we can agree that not everyone is a perfect public speaker like you and me.

So if you bought all of these games in the series, would you play one after the other in order? Also is there any more in the series coming?
@TheDiscriminatingGamer7 жыл бұрын
I don't think the order in which you play them really matters. They each offer something special and unique. They are currently doing a Kickstarter for Vikings 828- same system, but different era.

Like you I prefered 1775 for the way it worked and it's too bad because as French I prefered 1754 for the thema!

@@TheDiscriminatingGamer Just saw it now! Sorry! By the way: More we play both games more we change our minds and prefer 1754 now for many reasons but the main: Much less chance! Mostly regarding the end: You can't just jump around with your armies and take a far away region to win at the last moment (like in 1775) because in 1754 the VPs can be strongly defended much easily than a full colony! In Our Arrogant Opinion - But we keep on using 1775 to introduce new players to this serie because it's simpler (and still beautiful for this simplicity)! Regards - GG
