2000 Jetta ALH, 5speed 325k miles here in Michigan. I have a frost heater that works good, but... I ordered one of those silcone heating pads for the oil pan. I'd like it to heat up a little faster than the frostheater alone. If I plug it in, I have to make sure that I have enough time for it to heat the engine and not just the temp sensor. I didn't give it enough time recently, and the car wouldn't start. I had heard that could happen because the temp sensor would register high and keep the glow plugs from working right. I'll be installing the pad on the oil pan this weekend.

Ya that's very possible, the temp sensor is the first thing to get heat with the frost heater

hey you've been a life saver for me lol i have a ranger with a alh i deleted the oil cooler so i cant plumb it the way you showed but if i just ran the hose from the flange on the back of the head as you showed and ran it directly to where the coolant bulb would usually go im assuming that would work good to right THANKS! for all these videos i dont think i could have been able to do my swap without them

Glad to help man! I'm not sure the coolant bulb will flow through though since it has air in it, you would have to do it somewhere like the heater core to get constant flow

Ya I did one of those on my first Jetta, but the wind blows the heat right out of the before it even gets the oil warm 😂
