Thanks, good job!
@DSEC_UK5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I would need your engine code to make sure its right - 2.0 TDI has a couple different EGR's. Once you've got the engine code it will say on the eBay ad which engine it is for. The best way to find this out is look in your boot for a white sticker underneath the carpet next to the spare wheel. After you've installed the EGR - the ECU will pop the engine management light on, I'm working on a video showing how to fix this, it's a simple remap of the ECU that stops the engine management light from turning on - if you want to get this done you will need a MPPSv16 USB box. The next video should be done fairly soon.

Is it necessary for the larger piece? If it is, why the 2 plates in the standard kits when I'd only need 1?? Thanks for making the video.
@DSEC_UK6 жыл бұрын
Hey, that section connecting to the EGR pipe is called the ASV/IMF Anti Shudder Valve or Inlet Manifold Flap. You will want to give that a good clean if you're doing this job. Yeah I've seen kits with those, you'll want to make sure you're buying for the right engine, you can easily find out what engine you have by lifting the carpet in the boot and looking around the spare wheel. You should see a white label with ENG.CODE TRANS.CODE - the Audi I'm working on in the video is the 140 BKD. So from what you've said a blocked EGR potentially could be the issue, being a 2002 model it's likely 150k+ miles. Injectors, Turbo's and EGR's can be problematic with higher miles - remove the inlet section and have a look inside to see if the EGR is clogged up and let me know. Should the car go into limp mode, when you pull up leave the battery off for 15 minutes and see if it stays in that mode.

Hi, thanks for this vid. I just have a quick question; The part that you replaced on the EGR didn’t seem to be very clogged, and the new part was a modification, why did you decide to modify/replace the original valve? Does it help with performance? Also, would you recommend the same modification on a 2007 TDI VW Passat?
@DSEC_UK6 жыл бұрын
Hi Mal, So, the whole reason behind removing the EGR is so that once this car has been remapped it won’t be dumping a load of carbon into the engine. I know some maps stop the EGR from kicking in all together so you don’t necessarily need to do this mod and you can simply unplug the vacuum pipe on top of the EGR to prevent it from working. I should mention as well the engines EGR has two sections, the part I replaced in this video and the EGR cooler around the back of the engine that cools the exhaust gas before its sent to the inlet (which would have been really difficult to film). Doing this mod doesn’t give a noticeable change in performance and all you’re left with after is the engine management light with the EGR fault code. Yeah, I would remove the EGR on your Passat, if you want it run cleaner internally and are looking to get it remapped in the future then why not. Cheers

@DSEC_UK5 жыл бұрын
It really depends how you drive it and how the map is configured, the stage 1 remap on that engine delivers roughly a 28% increase in Bhp which is obviously demanding more from certain components - the turbo is the easiest place to pull power from which places more strain on it. Same situation with the clutch the increase torque being made from the engine needs to be conducted through the drivetrain and OEM clutches will be rated to deal with so much more. Improves throttle response at low RPM's

To pollute as much as you can whe the engine is under working temperature. You usually get no differences at all but you pollute way more. You can achieve the desired perfomance just by tweaking in the ECU.

@@DSEC_UK obviously apart of the green party...... Go fight big corporations like shell British Airways and train companies you fool everyone is polluting..... Diesel cars is small fry

The real purpose of this mod is to pollute as much as you can whee the engine its still cold. You usually get no differences at all but you pollute way more. You can achieve the desired perfomance just by tweaking in the ECU.

Can you explain what you mean by tweaking the ECU?

Do you recommend to get this done in an 07 Skoda ocatvia vrs 170bhp diesel?
@DSEC_UK6 жыл бұрын
Doing this makes no difference power wise, I suppose if you like the idea of not coating your engine with soot then go-ahead. Actually, because your Skoda 170 has the DPF you shouldn’t do it because of the new MOT regulations, you might not be able to pass it.

Just clean it out! Why blank it and disable a good feature on the car?!
@DSEC_UK5 жыл бұрын
izzzzzz6 because the EGR can stick open or shut and cause problems later on, best to just remove it 😊
@izzzzzz65 жыл бұрын
@@DSEC_UK I agree with you that it is a crappy design. I have been wondering if it would be worth drenching everything in EGR cleaner once a month and keep a small access hole or two with some sort of removable covers so that the cleaner could be sprayed into the worst parts? I think many of these sticking and clogged parts are due to inferior engine oils and old engine oils, possible also condensation and perhaps sometimes even crappy diesel. It would be interesting to know if a well maintained diesel which has always had high quality oil changed frequently would show less symptoms.
@DSEC_UK5 жыл бұрын
@@izzzzzz6 Yeah you've got a point but I think for the time you will use removing it in the first place and the cost of EGR cleaner... it works out better just to replace the section with a blanking interface. Remapping the EGR out will obviously cost more than a big can of cleaner... but worth it!

wow what a clean engine bay,no dust -nothing. u must clean that on a daily basis. ,but ur polluting the air where you live 100 times more. how silly human can be,clean car in a dirty atmosphere. i cant see the logic. all these little habits for nothing, there r far more greater things that u can improve for the place you live. Ok OK if you wanted more power -remap the ecu,it would have been much faster in low and hi revs and its a TDI.

The engine works perfectly fine after the replacement, only issue is the EML is triggered. You won’t be walking anywhere 😂
