This was super informative! It looks like quite a mission and the internet situation sounds very stressful, but it also seems so worth it! We are so ready to become digital nomads! We’ve been talking about it for the last few weeks, and coming across your videos is like a sign haha We never see South Africans doing this kind of thing, so you guys are showing us that it is possible for South Africans to travel the world and be location independent! I (Chantal) completed my tefl during lockdown, so no more excuses 😅

Go for it! Vietnam is a great place to start that journey, lots of expats there, lots of support, lots of job opportunities and cheap cost of living while you’re getting setup online😊. Otherwise start teaching online now and see how it goes!😊

I will be moving to Vietnam in a couple of months and intend to work there as an English teacher. Got some questions such as, how easy it is to score a job for non native speakers ? What salary expectations to have ? And how long does it usually take to land a job provided I have all the requirements met. Recently discovered your channel, good job with the videos! Fellow traveller and KZbinr myself
@RhettandClaire

Desi Vagabond Hey Desi, we can only advise you based on what we’ve heard and apparently it is a lot harder for non-native speakers to find jobs as English teachers. The Asian governments are becoming a lot more strict, but with that being said, we know of a few non-native English speakers teaching in Vietnam. We cannot advise you on salary and expected time to land a job, we’d have to guess! But it’s worth a shot! Thanks for the kind words, and good luck with everything🙏🏻

Hi, I left a message on another video that you posted. The video was a while ago, so not sure if you check comments. Wondering if you knew if you needed a degree to teach English on line. I noticed on the ABC website it does state you need a degree to teach in China. I a retired Canadian and would love to do this to generate a bit of income. I just noticed that you put that you do need a degree. I really enjoy your videos

Hi guys. love this video! I am also an online English teacher, but I have not been able to do much traveling since changing into this career ... would love to change that in the future. I have a rather important question. What do you guys do about backup power supply for your laptops (in case of power outages)? At home here in SA we have load shedding all the time and use an inverter. Not sure if you are familiar with it. But it's huge and weighs like 50kgs. I have a mini UPS for my internet. But when traveling I'm not sure what id do when the power goes out. Please... any suggestions would be super appreciated! Thanks so much :)!
@RhettandClaire
@RhettandClaire 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Claire! Unfortunately a UPS is the only thing we can suggest to use in South Africa but odds are, it won’t charge your laptop battery for long enough. Luckily load shedding is not too often lately so maybe just take a chance? Don’t let online teaching get too much in the way of traveling and seeing new places😊. Sorry we couldn’t help more, it’s easier to travel abroad with teaching online than to travel in SA🙈

Hey guys ! Great video. I'm wanting to start living the digital nomad lifestyle, teaching english online and traveling the world. Could you recommend a good company you don't require a degree to teach online? And also with working 4 - 4 hours a day what's the rough expected monthly income.? Thanks again.
@RhettandClaire
@RhettandClaire 4 жыл бұрын
Jake Divljak Hi Jake, we unfortunately can’t help you as it’s recently been made law in China that all English teachers must have a degree. You can get away with working in schools without a degree, but not online. Perhaps try and look up Korean or Japanese companies? Sorry we couldn’t help more!

Hey Steph! We’re so sorry but SayABC are no longer hiring teachers. The company seems to be going under but they’re not communicating anything with their teachers. Try PalFish instead. Here’s a link: ipalfish.i2mi.com/klian/web/dist/m/teacher/invite.html?uid=22913393&channel=30002&teacherregion=0
