Snickers is such a cute dog! I have a kitty-cat named Snickers. She's a fluffy Tortoiseshell with a sweet little face and a sweet personality to match.

Very important video. Its amazing how easily you forget information. I had to come back to your videos again for my new pup. I also own over 20 videos on demand from you - they are great

I never allow any of my dogs to ever start sniffing foot paths,curbs etc ,that way they never go toilet except where I tell them to. I always train them to grass only and on lead/leash. Lovely looking dog . Thanks for all your videos :)

This is an important matter. My house is NOT kittie’s litter box, it is our home!

One of the big points he talked about in this video. Some dogs go potty multiple times.

My first puppy ( before I'd had older rescue dogs) after walks or outside play, I thought if they wanted the loo they would have been. But puppies get so intent on the play they forget they need the loo. So both before and after play/walk tell them that they should "go to the wee". Saves messes indoors. 🙂

I do the same kind of thing with all my dogs for the the time they are brought home it does not take them long to catch on. I also like to teach them to go in one area of my yard makes it alot easier to keep everything clean

I just adopted a 5 month old Chihuahua, and we're having a hard time trying to teach her. As soon as we get outside we wants to go bad into the house, and starts crying if we don't let her. This morning I took her out and she it the same thing happened, and within 10 minutes of bringing her back to the house she peed and pood in the living room, and it looked like she'd been holding for a while because it was a lot.

What do you do if a dog goes in the wrong place? How do you correct?
@taylerbell61435 жыл бұрын
I have a question, I am currently working with 5 different dogs with different personalities and different tendencies. One is a 5 month old female pitbull, she knows that she has to go potty before we let her inside. If it is an emergency and she can’t make it to the designated potty spot, do I let that go and reward anyway? We live in a dirt and gravel area and our front porch often gets peed on because she has a lot of emergencies, I have tried going away from the porch and calling her with a lot of enthusiasm and most of the time it works but there are some times where she doesn’t make it in time. This also relates to my question about accidents inside the home. When it is an emergency do I ignore it, reward it, or discipline it? I guess I could pick her up and take her there for now but I’m thinking of when she is 60-70 lbs and a solid rock and I am not physically able to pick her up like when she is 37 lbs, if I let it go when it is an emergency I’m worried that she will think it’s ok to do even if it’s emergent. Opinions?

Tayler Bell, just my opinion. Be easy on your dog companion. Your dogs are not training to be Marines, and while dogs need consistency and structure, is it really important if they poop five or ten yards one way or another, as long as it is not on your rug? I rescue dogs and many have lived on the streets for years, so many your situation is different, but I take my dogs for walk, they pee and poop in different places, normally a few times, they play and we go home. have a good day.

I wish I’d known this sooner. I’ve been trying to “kill two birds with one stone” by combining potty training immediately followed by high intensity playtime afterwards. Thanks for pointing that out, I’ll adjust my strategy from now on :)

You missed what he was saying. He meant do not take them out and let them run around or try and train in other behaviors and at the same time and make this time potty time. Let them potty first and then allow other activity. You can follow with other acts afterwards just don't do both at once. I.e. 'While we are out playing why don't you go potty'. Potty time is potty time, not potty while you play time.

Leerburg: I am getting a puppy someday and I would like to train him or her to go to the bathroom into the toilet, How would I do that?

I don't know if this is a joke or you actually want them to pee and poop in a toilet
@andreamichelle14 жыл бұрын
Our puppy is a 9 week old mini schnauzer. She will pee on the command "quickly" but she's gotten comfortable and has started roaming to different areas in our yard other than the one I've chosen for her. Instead of correcting her, Ive been allowing her to do it and now she's wants to go in our neighbor's yard too (partially fenced). I realized that I needed to put her on a leash but she throws the worst tantrums and refuses to go on command and in the designated area while on the leash. I don't believe that it is too late to reverse this behavior. But this is a pain.

IMO he says "good outside" too soon. In this way the dog is rewarded for beginning to urinate not for emptying the bladder.
@ting21126 жыл бұрын
I do the same. I see it sorta like 'vocal clicker training'. Catch them right when they begin the action and they know what's wanted of them. The dog usually won't empty their bladder the first one though because it's instinctual for them to mark in multiple places.
