"Ask questions, be critical." Questions test boundaries. Answers redefine those boundaries. You seem like you're a damn fine teacher. I Wish I had just one teacher like you when I was younger. A teacher who encouraged all my questions and not the ones who essentially just told me to listen to the info dump.

3:18 In my country (Brunei), a lot of the undetonated bombs dropped by the Allies during the Japanese Occupation were all of them found by accident. Back in 2012, some workers dug up and found a WWII bomb just by the road when they were about to put up some neon light. It's even more terrifying to think about it because the workers have no idea what it was. They found it on Monday and decided only to report it to the authorities the next morning. Traffic in the area had to be diverted for almost half a day when the EOD were working to remove the bomb safely and check if there were more to be safe.

No.5 They probably got confused with BAZI (villain, rogue) only used in southern Germany and perhaps Austria.

About the Bombs in Germany: In some Areas that were bombed heavy, like Nürnberg, its pretty comon to find bombs on construction sites, and they are prepared for that. But some times the find them in random fields and rivers, mosty by coincidence.

You should look up Juan Pujol García. He was a fascinating individual. He was a Spanish spy who acted as a double agent loyal to Great Britain against Nazi Germany during World War II, when he relocated to Britain to carry out fictitious spying activities for the Germans. He was given the codename Bovril, later changed to Garbo, by the British; their German counterparts codenamed him Alaric and referred to his non-existent spy network as "Arabal". He was awarded an MBE by England and an Iron Cross by Germany.

7:09 There is an intresting movie from the 2008 directed by Dennis Gansel called "The Wave" that talks about how easy it is to manipulate and create a group of people like the natzis even if they believe that they will never become that. Back in school my history teacher gaves us the oportunity to watch it and i completly understood how this extreme ideology groups are created.

If you are interested about the magnitude of Operation Paperclip, look up the US Harper Magazine Issue October 1946 "Secrets By The Thousands". Most people think it was only about some dozends scientists and the V2 rockets.

About teachers manipulating students about WWII . There is a movie called The Wave ( 1981 ) in which a teacher manipulates an entire class to be either nazis or victims. This movie made such an impact on me as a child. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqLPc3Zqas-eaas en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wave_(1981_film) The fact that ( and this is before the internet ofcourse ) children can be manipulated like this is horrifying.

In the beginning of the 20th century 'Nazi' was a Bavarian slur meaning 'idiot' or 'simple-minded'. It was an abbreviation for the name 'Ignaz' which was popular in Bavaria and Austria in the late 19th century and fairly common on the countryside where education levels were still pretty far behind those of cities. (The school system was the same, but countryfolk usually dropped out sooner and find work instead.) There's something similar in Germany today called 'Kevinism' - The name Kevin is stereotyped as an uneducated teenager who can't even get out a complete sentence and gets into trouble all the time. And concerning bombs being found in Germany: Yeah, happens all the time. Most larger cities have had a few zones evacuated because of it. It may hit the news on a slow day.

The train station in the city I live in here in germany has been bombed heavily during WW2. It is now a huge construction site and they are building new houses around the station since a few years. Bevore they started, they searched the area for bombs. They used different methods and it took almost half a year before construction could begin. They found 5 or 6 bombs while searching and the area surrounding the train station (me included) had to be evacuated every time, so they could defuse the bombs. But still, during the construction they found 2 more bombs... It is a normal thing here in germany. If you live in a city, you can tell stories about WW2 bombs... Some years ago they've found a bomb on a construction site in Munich. They couldn't defuse the bomb because it was too much demaged, moving it somewhere else was too dangerous, so they had to let it explode under control. This was in the city center of Munich, there are some videos of the explosion here on youtube.

@2:07 when you the video is talking about unexploded bombs in Germany, it's a shame that they show a Dutch EOD-specialist... And again @10:10 a Dutch advertisement when talking about German circumstances.

Just a nit picky detail but the Operation Cherry Blossoms At Night scene he (whomever edited the top 10 vid) says five subs and then puts six on the screen. Funny how small things slip through the cracks in editing

Also, the flag on the uniform of the guy disarming the bomb is not German. :-D I must say, I really appreciate how careful he presented the facts otherwise (which of course makes errors stand out more).

Another really interesting reaction...you are definitely on a streak of picking good stuff to react to. OK...not really a criticism of the original video, more of a humorous accident... at 3:50 when the narrator states that "5 submarines were to be sent" but the animation clearly shows 6. LOL The correct number does appear to be 5 subs...just funny what gets past the final editors. I understand what you mean when you talk about the importance of knowing about Sweden being the first country to officially mark the passports of Jewish people, but you really cannot then use that to blame Sweden in any way for the events of the Holocaust. Goebbels was going to be Goebbels with or without Sweden marking the Jewish passports, and blaming Sweden for giving the Nazis the idea for using the Jewish Star would be like blaming the US having segregation and anti-miscegenation and other Eugenics laws in many states for what Hitler and company did with the Nurnberg Laws of 1935 and all that followed. ✌
