Wolfey is great at teaching. I honestly think he'd do well as a teacher if he set up say a Competitive Pokémon Workshop of sorts. Could be a great way of helping people learn. Having that kind of space is great because it's easier to learn when you can ask questions in person and get that more immediate response, and it's easier to demonstrate, which I feel goes a long way towards making it less daunting. Don't think I've seen a competitive Pokémon workshop, but it's an idea.

I think a way to improve your videos, especially the more “instructional” ones is to have a visual on screen when you’re explaining something complicated. Like when you were explaining the +1 +2 and how tailwind factors in, it can get a little confusing. For example when AustinJohnPlays explains something, even though it’s pretty simple, he always breaks it down into visuals (charts, lists etc). Anyway, been a long time watcher and I’m glad to see you growing your channel!! 🧡

Fuck. Alpharad is always such an internet funnyman that you never realize how intelligent the guy is until a video like this happens. He caught on so quickly and didn't even mess up terminology, the stat fractions talk was genuinely hype to hear.
@Nate34175 жыл бұрын
I've been watching almost nothing but this channel all day ever since Alpha recommended it, so it's really cool seeing the colab. And this was a really interesting video and had a lot of tips I'll use when explaining the game to other people. Like using fractions to describe stat changes is pretty intuitive so I'll definitely use that to describe how it works in the future. And I think a lot of the stuff on this channel is making me want to get back into playing this game competitively. Now I just have to figure out what to run, since my old team was based around Zoroark and Mega Gardevoir.

This has helped me a lot! The advice to find an idea and run with it has inspired me with an interesting strategy for Doubles. It requires two Pokémon, Oranguru (Modest) EVs: High investment in defenses, moderate investment in Sp. Atk. Item: undecided, probably a berry. -Stored Power -Instruct -Trick Room -Some other Special attack move based on preference. Alcremie (Bold) Gigantamax capable. EVs: High investment in defenses Item: Focus Sash -Decorate -Moonblast -Protect (?) -Healing move (if possible. If not, probably a coverage or defensive move.) The idea behind this set is abusing Decorate. A typical match will go as following: First turn: Alcremie Decorates Oranguru. Oranguru uses Trick Room. Second turn: Oranguru Instructs Alcremie, Alcremie Decorates Oranguru. Third turn: Oranguru attacks with Stored Power Alcremie Gigantimaxes and G-Max Finale is used on the other Pokémon. This is just a concept, and I have no clue how it will work in actual play. If either go down, the strategy is doomed, but I'm hoping to test this out once I get my hands on both of these.

Man the timing for me is perfect, I was just wondering if I could find something like coaching for competitive battling and then I stumbled upon this video. I really enjoyed watching this and I think you were to explain everything as clearly as possible, great teacher. Looking forward to see more!

As someone who has never done VGC and new to that this is very well put together and informative video. I get why I always see these Pokémon are sought after and used a lot still.

I appreciate you pointing out the sick “throw up Tailwind on the turn Trick Room drops” strat. Not something I’ve ever thought about...

Just wanted to say: this video is amazing!!! Exactly the kind of videos that I - as a "typical just story" player need to learn how to play competitively. This was just the right amount of explanations. Continue this series please!

Been wanting to get into competitive pokémon ever since it was clear it was being made more accessible. This video was a great motivator to finally get to it and also super entertaining to watch!

Really liked this video, alpharad's smash/fighting game analogies also help me understand the thinking behind the decisions that are made and he asks all the questions I had! Ty for the explanations on how stat boost and speed stat works!

Thank you so much for making this video! The concept of reaching out to other people to ease them into competitive battling is a great idea, especialyl since GameFreak seems so intent to make the transition less and less tedious in the games themselves. Anywho,I'm happy for this because while I like competitive pokemon as a spectator sport, I'd like to at least dabble in it. My experience lies mainly with doing some occasional 6v6 singles matches with some buddies over Pokemon Showdown. However, I'd like to at least do stuff with ranked ladders for doubles, but like it feels so weird to wrap one's head around teambuilding due to format. Anywho, I hope you continue this concept in future videos.

I've been on the fence about getting back into competitive (I played Netbattle hardcore during Gen 3), but this is the push I needed. Thanks to you Wolfey, Alpha.
