I’m usually a lurker who doesn’t comment on videos, but I just have to tell you how absolutely magical this was for me. I haven’t been able to open my mouth wide enough to eat from a fork for the past week after having a root canal, but these techniques helped me not even 5 minutes! Thank you so much for uploading this!!!

This was so transformational. Your words brought me to tears. I can’t believe I’ve gone 27 years without truly being self compassionate when doing my healings. Thank you so much.

wow, the spirit of self-compassion, I could even feel it as you were speaking. So helpful to know the message that I want my hands to be sending rather than just trying to enact justice as you said.I can feel a sense of gentleness and healing already and I'm excited to explore this. Thank you

A very empowering explanation, one which most therapists and doctors should employ

Hi, wow, you are a great teacher and clearly very knowledgeable. I was curious as to your view on the intra oral massage/bacchal trend for cosmetic purposes...ie helping with frown lines and jowls. Is there any merit to this? Thanks so much.

Thanks for the comment. I know of no evidence that intraoral massage can change the shape or texture of the face. It may help someone feel better about their face?

Can this help with Lock jaw after extraction that was Injected 4 times with local anaesthetic which I believe is wrong the person did not go straight away for treatment and now can only get Two fingers in mouth. The dentist said after she rang up that it would go away in a few days and was no help whatsoever

Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and experience! I love this: using the spirit of self compassion to provide pain relief. What a beautiful and caring concept. Is it good to palpate the stringy cord like muscle that protrudes when you open your mouth? This is the masseter correct?
@ashleyyang98022 жыл бұрын
This stringy cord like thing just near the masseter muscle is called the membrane edge in the mouth. This is not a muscle. Please do not attempt to change it's shape or effect it in any way. It is similar to the frenulum of the tongue or the stringy line felt at the center of the top or bottom lip. If you are above the line work outwardly (laterally) if you are below the membrane line work medially- or more to the mid-line. This landmark is more pronounced while mouth is in open position by it's design. It is also more or less pronounced from person to person. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist with Certified training in Intraoral Massage.

Looking forward to trying this! I clench my teeth, which causes severe ear pain and (I think) has even caused my ears not to drain right, since I have issues with fluid build up. How often should a person do this self-massage? Daily? Weekly? As needed?
@TheRealMikeHamm4 жыл бұрын
As needed. I don't know the evidence, but in my experience the effect from a successful self-massage lasts anywhere from a few hours to about 2 days. If you can tie it to some other ritual (brushing teeth? yoga?) that may make it easier to incorporate into life. Thanks for asking! ~M

Why the glove?
@ashleyyang98022 жыл бұрын
to protect yourself from finger nails as well as bacteria that lives on outer skin tissue. In general it is more comfortable and if glove gets stuck on mouth, simply lick your lips.
