@janicesmith64164 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Im so glad I'm not alone in this. I know how to skate and stop and then some days I'm useless and scared!! the tricky thing for me with sometimes skating quads then inline is I forget im on inlines and them try and use my "toe stops" face plant!

She's doing amazing!!! Love when your wife does videos with you as a fellowfemale skater. I totally understand her mentality of fear because she came from a quad bkgd where surface stability is much more important. I find it so interesting she is afraid of falling - from my experience I've fallen a lot more on quads than inlines. As an inline skater learning quads I think quads are the more difficult sport so I love seeing her opposite journey. I agree to overcome that mental block she just needs to do it, and with practice she will be more comfortable with using T-stops and carving to control speed on downhills.

I have a 'block' of self-belief - I have a theory that that's what most 'blocks' are. This isn't a situation where you know you don't have the skills or technique to do something - where you know something is above your skill level. Rather, it's when you know something is within your capabilities and you still don't believe you can do it. It's very common in skaters who start skating later in life. I think it's an issue for a psychotherapist or sports psychologist more than a skate coach.
@janicesmith64164 жыл бұрын
SPOT ON!!!! you find little kids have no fear when they learn new sports. But being a mom of 2 little ones , I'm scared to fall... I still need to look after and carry them around while in pain which is not fun.

I get that block Every time after I wheel bite or stand to strait on my board but dorky I may look I try to wear full pads and wrist guards not because I always need them but because they give me super powers.Its beyond nature to put wheels on your feet that's great but we also need a defense beyond nature. That is the balance of gravity sports.

My advice to Janice: 1. You skate = you fall. You need to be aware of that before you even think about skating. 2. You fall = you need to wear knee/elbow/hand protection. I'm new to the channel and this is the 2nd video I saw featuring Janice (the other one was the kick roller review), in both vids she was complaining about falling all the time. If you try a new skate, going downhill, not wearing protection, of course you will hurt yourself. Just because your husband skates, you don't have to. 🤷♂️ Stay safe, and don't ask for trouble, or if you do, then don't complain.
@janicesmith64164 жыл бұрын
YES PLEASE (I love the name) 😂totally agree with you! I fall all time , I know it's part of it. I also normally wear full protection pack when Im in the skate park etc. but I was really under the impression I was going for a nice chilled skate session 😂I have learnt my lesson. Thank you!

I skated over 30 years ago, last time I’d do anything. This time I’ve brought new pads, helmet and skates. I have lost the bottle to even stand, the skates seem to feel more than twice the weight of my old pair. I stumble and drag the skates, I used to be fearless and now I’ve ended putting them away around a month ago now. Any tips and surface choices which can help me, this would be most appreciated.😬😢
