Same always loved playing with dogs mano a mano , and I never tried just keeping stady , i always go directly for an out , ive manage to teach a less than 3 month old Nia out to sit while tugging , and it can be as rough as you want , if her baby teeth arnt stuck so something , she is getting out at first stop. Has potential to be a great guard dog , she already lays by your side when you sleep and barks at anyone that enters the room , and the pray drive is phenomenal. And she isnt scared of almost anything , lots of people around her , no problem , consctruction eauipment , no problem ,cars,bikes etc , no problem. Damn fine dog

My 8 week old is just like this, this playful. I noticed when he bites & I say no & pull away he bites down harder. So this makes sense. I don't think he's trying to hurt me he isn't aware how sharp his teeth are. Obviously he wouldn't be he's learning. I'll try this tomorrow he tore me up tonight🤣🤣🤣🤣.
@rotten22092 жыл бұрын
Have you tried yelping loud like another puppy would and then walking away from him? They don't want to hurt you in general so they'll learn to be more gentle during play time. Especially if playtime is over after you yelp.

Thank you for this video. This info will be helpful. I just got a rotti pup and she is 9 weeks old. She is in the nippy stage and pounced at my 2 year old. I will try these techniques.

Mines 8 weeks & nippy. I don't think he's doing it to be mean but he's just not aware it hurts & he has brought blood. Just a few tiny spots but I've had other dogs do the same at this stage as a puppy.

@@ashlynn1652 This bite training does work over time; however, at one point I got fed up because my pup wouldn't stop biting at my slippers so I pulled it off and gave her a little smack on the nose, and she looked at me like WTF just happened haha! After that if she tried it again I would grab my slipper and she would stop✌😁 definitely important to teach dog about bite force though.

Is it still too late to reach this at 12-13weeks old? My rottie always bites at my hands when I start petting him or picking him to get in the cage when he’s tired. Ever since I got Him (8 weeks) I’ve only put him in there when he goes to sleep, I leave the house, or he’s done something bad.

Thanks so much for the video!! Much appreciated! My 9 week old rotti growls when I pick him while eating grass, and sometimes just when I pick him up or playing tug, Is this normal, should I reprimand or just ignore the growl? Appreciate any insight! Thanks
@AshGreen3593 жыл бұрын
Growling is part of the game of tug o war. Though the other situations might be concerning. Definitely don't want him to be food aggressive.

My rottie is 10 weeks and I’ve tried this, the problem is when I withdraw and hold the toy down she starts biting my hand; and it hurts! Even with the baby teeth. Aside from playtime she is gentle but when she gets into an excited state and wants to play she doesn’t take no for answer; help

You must be strong in your voice like a Confident pack leader ....and if that don't work remove the toy and teach her positive training when its play and you must give relaxed body language cuz the dog is always watching you ...you can always ask help from a good trainer to help you out and training you with the dog never hurts to get help

Hey I have a 9week old male rotti and he won’t stop biting everyone trying to pet him, I’ve tried getting him in trouble but he just doesn’t stop. He also won’t stop biting object in general but people are his favorite “toy “

This is why it is helpful to play tug to get the pup into biting things other than your skin. Go to the Thriving Canine channel and look under the puppy section, there are a few other videos there that might help you. If you would like some one-on-one help, please shoot me an email to schedule an appointment.

So if the dog is Nibbling on you, you just stay still and say no? And also will those techniques stop nibbling from being a bad habit?
@ThrivingCanine5 жыл бұрын
Staying still takes the fun out of your hand but you also need to redirect back to the toy. Yes, this works as part of a larger plan to stop bad habits from forming and for creating good habits. There's a lot of info in there, needs watching and listening multiple times.
