I have a 54 pound, 6 month old puppy. He has more toys and things to chew on than the average dog but I'm still his favourite chew toy😜 I'm consistently trying these tips but it seems to just annoy him and makes him even more bratty. I appreciate these videos because I'm sure he'd be much worse if I didn't keep trying. He's really sweet (most of the time) and smart so I know if I keep working with him, he's going to be a great dog😊

My beagle pup uses my husband as a chew toy! She too gets amped up when you try giving her a toy to bite on. It gets so bad we have to put her in her crate to calm her down. She doesn’t do it to me because I don’t allow it, my husband enables her way to much!

@@charlottelee8611 My dog, Trumpet, sees me as a litter mate. He's better with my husband but still not all the time. He gets very amped up but will calm right down if I leave the room. I seem to be his trigger😜 He's definitely making improvements though and I can tell he's going to be a great when he mellows a bit. He's also sweet, loveable and smart. We're waiting a few more months to get him neutered, to help avoid joint issues when he's older, so I think that will help calm him down afterwards. He's extremely high energy. He's a border collie/heeler/ catahoula/pointer mix😳 He's my 4th border collie mix, that I've had, so I knew what I was getting myself into😁

I’ve had my 2 month old border collie for a week and I’m going through the same, the more I say no the more he seems to like chewing on my fingers, I try redirecting and he just ignores the toys. I will try the collar thing and see if that works, I don’t want to be dealing with this once he is bigger and more stubborn than now.

Thank sos much for this and the link to the free course! I love everything you’re about! It was good to see you with a daschund as well, I don’t see many trainers training them, we have a 10 month puppy who is proving to be very challenging with biting and barking at people, despite us trying very hard from the start with her training. We had a border collie for 14 years that I trained, another cross breed before that and both could be trusted to never chew anything or bite! This puppy is a huge wake up call that it’s not always the owner!

This is great advice and we have been implementing it from day 1 but it's so hard when you have lots of young children and the puppy is very excitable. Requires constant intervention from us as the puppy loves to run around the garden excitedly with the children

Thank you so much! I find your advice very helpful and will help as long as my Bichon Frise practices this a whole lot and we stay consistent with this method! I had her for 4 days now and she knows her name and how to sit, come, and lay down. She’s very smart but since she!s 2 months old, she’s been teething and my whole family wants to make sure she doesn’t grow into the habit of biting people so we want to learn how to stop her from biting

I have a 8 week mini poodle who is constantly biting legs and fingers. Whenever i apply this tips, he starts barking, growling, and biting more aggressively. Does anyone have any tips? He is food driven and pretty smart. He does know how to sit and wait and is currently under crate training. The issue is whenever i try to correct him, being when he is nipping or biting what he shouldn't.

I really need help with my puppy. I have a 50 pound, 5 month old bernese mountain dog-golden retriever mix. He’s amazing most of the time. He absolutely loves people but he has been showing aggression towards them?! He was muzzled at the vet because he tried to bite, and he’s snapped and bitten me and a few of my family members a few time. He probably snapped at the vet because he was really stressed but I don’t know why he’s snapping at home. It hurts, he has broken skin on my arm😭 I don’t use training techniques that inflict pain or any thing like that I don’t know why he’s doing this. I’m really worried, I don’t want him to be put down for biting someone(he’s only around half way grown now?) He has been showing this agression since I got him(3 months old) It just started off as if he was sleeping and you touched him he would snap at you. My family decided to just not touch him while he’s sleeping, problem solved right? Nope, this aggression is still happening just in different scenarios. I’m wondering if this is just his temperment becuase I have a second puppy(3 months) who is so much more behaved and she hasn’t even gone through a fraction of the amount of training he has yet. I probably sound like a bad dog trainer if I already have a dog that bites but I’ve been trying so hard and doing so much research ): Does any one know why a puppy would be showing aggression and biting people!? Advice???

Perhaps you were being too rough with your interruptions? When doing an active interruption you don’t wanna tap them too hard, but just enough in order to startle them.

My past trainers and training sites, recommend not using "no" to train dogs, so I am writing to confirm that when you used it in step 1 of the behavior deterrence, it was not meant as a *word* the puppy needs to learn but more as an attention getting tactic before proceeding with step 2? Thank you! Oh and how could someone become a trainer? (in the U.S.)

I have an 11 week Australian shepherd and I can not get him to stop the nipping at the feet and heels of my girlfriend. He doesn’t do it to me much at all but he actively goes after her mainly at night. When I try your collar method he just gets more ramped up.

I have a 4 month old German shepherd puppy and we have been doing this with her constantly over the past month. The thing is, she’s not getting it. We say “stop” and hold the collar/tuck her close to us so she can’t bite. Then she calms down and we re-direct onto a toy, which lasts about a second and then she’s right back to biting us again. We can barely play with her because all she ever wants to do is bite us. If we’re ever not fully paying attention to us, she’ll lunge and bite our legs, hands or even try to bite our faces. We’re consistent with the method you’re mentioning here but we’re not getting anywhere. The ONLY time she will listen to the “stop biting” is if she knows we have treats. When she knows we have them she won’t try to bite us at all. Like she KNOWS she’s not supposed to bite and will only stop for treats. The moment she knows the treats are gone, she goes right back to biting. We’re not sure what to do next :(

I have a black Russian terrier dog and lately I have been getting complaints that he stinks. He gets groomed. I’ve taken him to the vet. The vet doesn’t say he have a foul odor but he smells like a dog but people still complain that he stinks. Do you guys have any suggestions? I think it’s because he’s a big dog that little the smell is more noticeable, but I’m just like at this point I don’t know what to do. I love my baby and he is not going anywhere and if people don’t like them then they keep it moving.i guess I answered my question. Lol

I get the feeling your cute pup is just fine and it’s just being a dog lol. If you haven’t already, what’s helped my pup’s heavy BO (large breed) is brushing teeth regularly (where it smells the most) and some lavender dog safe scent you can brush in (I have a ritual in the evening before bed to brush her with the perfume brush) and she loves it. I also wipe down her paws every time we go out. Maybe this will be helpful and all the best to your cutie🐶

Is he fixed? Unfixed males have a pretty distinct smell. They can get some of the urine on themselves and that's all it takes. Their urine tends to be more "oily" too.

What?? Puppies must learn how to play bitte in order to learn self-control. Typically, they worked learn this from the parents. This is very important with larger, powerful dogs especially. You should know better.

Puppies learn bite inhibition with their littermates and mother before they go home. You don’t need to allow them to bite you beyond the early weeks; those that need oral engagement can bite and chew other things beyond this point. 👍
