This is an awesome move. I don't remember who taught it to me, but he/she called it "The Pimp Step". Fitting name :)
@benjamingroeneweg4097 Жыл бұрын
F Yeah, the pimp step! I've been using this with a lot of success, and people keep asking me what it is. I tell them: The Pimp Step I'm working on making this name stick 😉

I have seen Rafa Mendes show that sort of cross-side shin on shin position (or w/e it might be called) and I have seen him show that cross step pass, but I have never seen or thought to combine the two. That is brilliant. IIRC when Rafa does that shin on shin position, he likes to transition to a reverse knee on belly position to continue the pass, at least as one option.

This is awesome. I usually go straight in for split squat or straight hamstring and deal with half guard if it happens.. but this is so much less effort. If it doesn't work then oh well, you get caught and work the split squat or half guard game.. win / win!!

Nice! I use this entry to initiate most standing passes. I thinks going ankle to ankle gives a better control;then you can push off the other leg and make them spin like a toreando pass. Most good guys check the cross shoulder, hip escape, and square up. Flexible guys step on the hip and invert. What would you do in those situations?
@abdelhakym82834 жыл бұрын
You're going straight to side control i'm guessing,go to knee on belly first,block the hip then go to side control

What I don't get is how is that leg wrap at 3:42 "half guard"? You're still able to pass there with a basic knee cut.

What if they hip escape away instead of trying to reset their leg first?
@ButlerPointer4 жыл бұрын
Then they've reset the position and you are back to square one, but at least they don't have a guard on you. I feel like good guys might try and spin under you, underhook the far leg and get some xguard going.

Coach, what to do if he straight away grabs your foot with his hand? That's what's happening to me when I try it on someone 🤷♂️
@TeachMeGrappling4 жыл бұрын
You have to hit it during motion. If you don’t set it up, he will grab you. Break grips and keep your feet moving. Don’t step too close when you go and don’t wait. Move! 🤙

Hello coach Brian.. how are you and I think this is a AWESOME move.. works great however, this one teacher at the school I attend says, " this is a dog shit move !!" And he constantly mocks me about it and tries to claim I just " walk around the guard" and will not give me ANY PROMOTIONS saying my / your jujitsu is shit. I go 3-5 days a week past 4 1/2yrs, I'm at 1 stripe blue however my last promo was 1yr 4moths ago. It's like he's trying to get me to quit and hurt me when I would roll with him. I use a lot of your stuff and it works great and will continue to study your moves and tapping this guys students hahahaha 🤣
