Yes! That grabbing of the opponent's hook and then sliding underneath as demonstrated by Wim has become very useful for me. Many thumbs up to Wim! His technique development is outstanding. He's a veritable grappler scientist!

Thanks for the videos coach. Another video full of minor details to look out for. It's very rare to find back escape videos 10 to 20 years ago. The old school coaches back in the day would say "you shouldn't have let your back get taken in the first place" lol

My gym does mandatory back defense (since we have excellent back offense coaches. Fighting for your life is essential for character building and understanding pushing yourself, and your limits. Getting comfortable fighting your way to safety. Priit has the best conceptual teachings (on KZbin) on back defense.. if someone knows the game, it becomes incredibly hard to choke someone out. Of course they can can still smash your face or do some other clever tactic of violence, but that doesn't affect concepts.

i love this coach brian! Also love wim deputter's stuff. It is really revolutionary and all great stuff. thank you for sharing the tips. we can see Wim's mirroring principle in action here- give the opponent what he wants until he no longer wants it anymore. if they got double overhooks, then accept it and lets go down. If they got double underhooks, then accept it and lets go up :)

12:48 Big fans of both Wim & Coach Brian! The Baby Bridge & Teach Me Grappling Claps echoes our house almost everyday so cool to see you mention each other 🤜🤛 PS to Coach Brian, really love everything, and I get that you're doing a lot of this just off the cuff with who's ever around, but notice how those contrasting colors of Wims assistant body suit (green) can help you figure out the path of arms and legs -- which I need all the help I can get in that category. Either way love you both!

I love concepts, jkd is entirely conceptual. "Use what works from any style", jiu-jitsu people should be using what works from wrestling and vice versa. To me, it's all grappling; from Thai clinch, to butterfly guard, to ground and pounding a turtle!

You had a rear-naked escape video where it seems you are putting your back on the floor on the weak side. I would have thought this is an "upward" move even though the opponent has a double-over. Is this an exception or am I just getting it wrong?
@TeachMeGrappling3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t call that an up move or down move but more of to the side. It is the same principle as in move in the direction you can. I hope to do more in the future on this subject.

Would you please make a videos about back escape when we are face down (belly down) and the opponient take our back ? I think this is one of the most difficult position escape to do , and its as important as much as mount escape because it is a mount escape but we are face down , Thank you very much your videos are amazing and very good

How possible is it for them to transfer to the twister if you put your arm under their head? I know they need leg control of your fat leg but just trying to visualise what problems they’d have in achieving that and how risky it is for the person trying to escape
