Let us know which team you choose to root for and why? One, both, or doesn't matter? We're curious to know 🤔👇🏽

Great vid - being half Mexican and half Korean raised in the USA and living over a decade in Slovenia I definitely find myself rooting for the underdogs in most cases as you pointed out! I watch the olympics to see the fantastic athletes regardless or race or nationality

It's interesting that you brought up the European league, as a person who is an Afro-Caribbean mixture but three generations living in England I normally root for the West Indies but during games they are not apart of it's England all the way. This cup was one of the first times where black/mixed people made up a big chunk of the players, and it was one of the first times I had seen many black british people rooting for England, Raheem Sterling, a British Jamaican player scored all the goals in the first three games and was praised the three players with black ancestry Sancho Rashford and Saka who missed their penalties where essential stripped of being British by the public and the amount of racist attacks that happened were atrocious. It's hard to root for a team when if a mistake is made you're suddenly told you don't belong and not wanted but when you're winning all of a sudden you belong and they're British players. In the Caribbean which has such a rich mixed ethnic culture i see less of this stripping of nationality when a player does wrong and I think it comes down to the monolithic countries not accepting the people they deem as one of them unless they are servicing them in one way or another. With that being said during the Olympics the west Indies all the way !!

I used to cheer for US and Japan because I was really into Anime, and Manga. Ever since I came to Korea I added it into the mix of cheering. If they are up against each other, I just cheer for both wins and I'm happy either way it comes out

I feel the same way, I cheer on Korea. It's my homeland. I'm an American. But S. Korea has my heart.

This would be a great deep dive topic; especially about when people try to prove that they are one thing or another. For a lot of my Korean American friends, they would take off from work or get up at 2 am to watch Korea play live with other Korean Americans because they felt that is what a good Korean should do. And for my friends who aren't Korean or who are not married to a Korean, they would cheer for Korea as a way to say that they were a good Korean student. For me, I really don't watch sports like I used to. I'm more into watching a good game than anything else.

Great discussion about the olympics and race and nationalities anyone would want to rep the nation they are from and to hold up a athlete to such high standards what the fans need to realize is we are humans mistakes happen it’s the talent and skill that got the athletes to be on what team they represent yes this topic can be debated for several reasons and view points those talented sports players are playing in olympics cause of their skills and sports they excelled in hard work payed off and got them to this point.

And then there's me who had to be a little more different...😄 I'm a dual citizen of both Canada and the US. (Born and raised Canadian) so I always root for Canada. Now if Canada is playing an Asian country (I adore Asian culture and am proud to say it's in my DNA), then I root for both - I feel like who ever won, I still won too. 🇨🇦

This reminds me of the 2002 FIFA world cup competition.. my dad is American and my mom was Korean. My mom sided with Korea and my dad sided with America. I took the neutral route & didn't choose a side lol

But regarding the olympics, I side with America :)

Please stop calling it America. “America” includes Canada, Mexico, and all of the other countries in Central and South America. Call it the United States.

I use to feel this way too but the more I traveled the more I realized that America is the 🇺🇸. The Americas includes the others but no one thinks of Mexico Canada Central or South America when they use they say America. Ppl from Canada Mexico Central and South America also do not typically think of themselves as Americans either. So America is 🇺🇸.
