Loving the video serious so far. The strategy and thinking behind the prep is really interesting. Please keep it up as you get deep into prep. Do you feel that machines make it much easier to retain strength vs. free weights, especially as you get deep into prep? Do you build your exercise selection along this thought process or are you OK with losing strength on free weight movements (i.e. DB shoulder press) as a part of the process? Why do you not like the standard bench with a seat for incline DB work? I've feel the seat set at the right angle helps create additional stability.

I think good technique regardless off machine or free weight retains the most performance. Finally for most people 15-30 degrees is the sweet spot
