So when he said he is preparing for a role, it was implied that it was for acting, and then he made the joke about it being a cinnamon roll and we all laughed and had a great time together the end.

Bleeding Eye Watcher I just mean it in a comedic sense. Criticism of Southern “culture” in regards to race is very valid, but in comedy, any sort of stereotyping is lazy and unfunny. That’s what I mean by “this is how you make jokes about the south” because most of the time it’s just “ahhh look at those Hicks with their tractors n racism n incest.” It’s just kind of generic lol, so I appreciated a different take on the jokes
@jacquelinewithac8668

Wheelie Kings I big to differ. If you’ve seen the movie The Producers it direcly satirizes the nazis and makes fun of Hitler without creating any sort of satire paradox where alt right groups could appropriate imagery from it. Mel Brooks definitely knows how to properly make fun of people

As a New Englander who had to live 10 years in Texas, then Georgia, I can attest to the slowness....Everyday life moves at a slower pace down south and I honestly think it's partially due to the heat. Northerners are almost always cold, angry and stuck in traffic, often all three simultaneously. We just want to get where we're going quickly, get stuff done quickly, so we can go home and stress out some more about other stuff that needs to be done.

Just a small luminescence in the moonless night, it will grow, glow and bring back the holiness of the real original Kentucky Fried Chicken, real NASCAR, and black eyed peas every New Year's Eve for supper. In the fertile fields of the region, collard and mustard greens will again sway in the summer heat's breeze, and the dawgs will pant under the porch! Thomas Meyer That could be correct but more than likely this is the result of a very broad and uneven survey like the US Census, though I will concede the move from agrarian was mostly in place by 100 years ago. By the time you get tractors, fertilizers and efficient well irrigation, fewer people could grow more crops. Some biscuits and gravy sound good. (We're talking sausage gravy, right?)

Exactly. But, personally, I wouldn’t trade that for anything. There’s nothing better than taking life slow - fishing beside a lake or river, sitting under a shade tree drinking iced tea, laying on the ground on a warm summer night watching the stars, and so on. Those times easily compensate for all the other hours of toiling under the hot sun.

Sup3villain Yeah, and they’re fat because of the heat and the lower activity associated with that. Of course, I wouldn’t say too much if I were you. No state exactly has a sterling record when it comes to obesity. All have obesity rates over 20%, with the very highest at only roughly 35%. In other words, every one of the states, including your own, is pretty darn close to that highest figure.

Not Anidiot Places I went to in Texas smoked the meat every night. And one of the employees cooked the sauce into the brisket and pork at night. The owner could smoke two hogs and a side of beef in one end of his concrete and concrete block smoker. Didn't need a knife to cut it. Potato salad, 2 biscuits, Cole slaw, and ice tea included. Place closed down when the owner died.

I grew up in Upstate New York and I used to think Southerners were dumb. Then I joined the U. S Navy and wait a minute, the smartest guy in our radar division was from Mississippi, he scored the highest on the asvabs. When I was in the Navy I told some southerners I was from New York and said, "I bet you think I'm a Yankee" and they said "No, we think your a damn Yankee." I laughed, but I never found out if they were kidding or not. They used to gather us on the fantail every six months or so for what they called "Fam Fire" or familiarization fire. We would just fire into the ocean with the ship still moving to supposedly maintain proficiency with weapons. The Marines would gather on the upper decks, look down at us and laugh. At first I was a little confused about the concept so I asked the southern Gunner's Mate what we should aim for. He said in his southern drawl, "Anything but the ship son." Luckily I managed to hit the ocean and not the ship. The Navy made me realize Southerners are not dumb, it's just a different culture down there.

as a southerner, we're slower because we're not in a rush. life here is slower... we move slower to be able to appreciate what we have around us. the ability to press pause and just breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the nice weather (before the tornadoes come) is something i think a lot of people lose the further north they go. life here is slower paced because we like to chill out and enjoy life while living it. also it's all the fried food

I was born in the South, and I found this hilarious. The thing about us is that we are either really fat and out of shape or really athletic and in great shape. Thank God I am the second one! I lived in Alabama until I was 14 and moved to Kansas. I think the main reason a lot of people are fat down there is because we drink so much. I don't think the food has much to do with it. I would wake up on saturday mornings and literally see boxes of empty 30 packs in my neighbors trash can. They were nice people, but they drank so damn much.
