I've set mine up identically but my bulb is close to the bottom .Mine has a manual egg roller that sits on a tray above the light and fan (the trays covered in 1/4" hardware cloth) I can't wait to use it to hatch chicks! Thanks!

Great video! My cockatiel laid 3 fertile eggs and would not sit on them. I used an incubator and all hatched. However, the last one had a darker discharge in his egg, the others had a lighter discharge. Is the dark discharge something to worry about?

Won't you need some small holes on the other side of the cooler for air flow when you turn on the fan? And how you control the humidity? Thanks.
@Bird.Squawk
@Bird.Squawk 2 жыл бұрын
Great question, yes! however on this new one the fan never comes on. This unit is set up so the fan is only needed when the units start to over heat. Also this cool is by no means sealed. if the fan came on it could draw air and push it out around the lid. But its really so efficient that it never comes on.

@Bird.Squawk
@Bird.Squawk 2 жыл бұрын
It might. One thing to be aware of, it doesn't take much heat to really heat them up. You may have to do some testing on what bulb works best with your cooler. Keep me posted on what you come up with. Kevin

I just saw your video today and subscribe it. Great video. How did you do the wiring? Connect all together? Please explain more about wire connection. Do we have to move eggs every 2 hour manually? Thanks
@Bird.Squawk
@Bird.Squawk 3 жыл бұрын
I purposely didn't put video of me wiring because I didn't want this to turn into a DIY on wiring and electricity. We have strict guidelines from KZbin of what we're allowed to show. And not take responsibility if someone tries it and gets hurt. As far as turning eggs I guess this could be used as an incubator, however it's really more of a brooder for after the birds have hatched. Although I have tested this one at 98.5° F and it holds temp just fine so it would incubate eggs.

The light socket (called a pigtail) and the light bulb (a lower wattage bulb) both came from Lowes. The bulb is a standard size screw-in bulb, I think I ended up with a 40 Watt small bulb. Yours may differ depending on the internal size of your cooler.

can i attach a regular glass thermometer or is it better to use a digital one?
@Bird.Squawk
@Bird.Squawk 2 жыл бұрын
I've never used one in a brooder. It's also important to note that this unit is not only a thermostat but it controls when the heat comes on and off. You set the temperature at your desired degree and then the light comes on to heat it up and if it gets too warm the light shuts off and the fan comes on.
