You aren't supposed to use the basic melee attack unless you have a weapon but only a few of those are worth using, most combat situations are made up of Press Jump, press jump repeatedly to kill everything

Melee attacks were meant to be used to break creates or destroy certain parts of the scenary. The game encourages you to use the homing attack or guns to dispose of enemies.

Yeah, but I bet at 8 years old you actually read the instruction booklet on the ride home from the game store, because you're not an idiot. Well, that's how it worked when I was 8 years old. But the last console I owned was called the Mega Drive, and came out in 1989. Nobody owned TV's back then, so we had to go to the local cinema to rent screen time to play videogames. We had to drive to the cinema on a horse drawn buggy. Streetlights were just poles shoved into the dirt with jars full of fireflies on the end. Daddy worked in the Cole mine, and womenfolk weren't in the workforce because they still did what the menfolk told em to. You could go to sears roebuck and buy a dog whip. No law man could tell you not to take a belt to yer younguns, and American automobiles weren't pieces of crap. A'course you had to turn a crank on the front to get em started, and you could break yer arm iff'n youse did it wrong. There was hoss poop all over the streets, and iff'n womenfolk left the house with their knees visible, they were stoned to death fer bein' harlots and whores of Babylon. Yep, them's were the good ol' days *spits tobacco in spittoon while tripping over chamber pot* Shee-yit! The pot I done pooped in this mornin' weren't emptied. Where's that woman? She goan' feel my belt! Mmmm hmmm. Yup. *Spits*. Mmmm hmmm. Where's my chewing tobaccy?

I loved this game as a kid. I’d give my sister the controller so she could play. I was too young to figure out how to unlock the different paths, now that I’m older I am trying to actually unlock all the different paths. Yeah the controls are a little difficult, but it is still fun.

Oh god I remember being in Game with some money I got from Christmas and my dad gave me the choice of getting either Shadow the hedgehog or Pokemon: XD gale of darkness and in my naive youth I chose Shadow thinking it will only be a month or so before I could get XD for the same price. 5 years later I finally got a copy of XD in CEX in the middle of several copies of Shadow the hedgehog and it hadn't even lost any value in that time!

Honestly, games not as bad on gamecube. Controls are actualy playable and makes the gameplay as fun as shadow the hedgehog can be. Though that dosent excuse the poor story and graphics, I look back fondly on this game as "The Room" of video games. I load it up now and again for a laugh, my freind group still jokingly say "Damn, not here." And "mArIA!" Not a good game by any means. But fun.

I’ve been avoiding this vid as I really liked Shadow The Hedgehog when it first came out. Liked the video though lads, as always. But honestly a shame you didn’t like the game. I played it over and over when I first got it, and loved it. Watching this has made me want to dig it out and replay it too! Though I had it for 360 if that makes any difference. (And Peter, you can do the homing attack on enemies, as well as auto-dash along lines of rings, so the fact that you didn’t realise that definitely would have made the game harder and more frustrating for you.) Anyway, loved you guys all the way back from the beginning and always will! Keep up the good work! Love Mia.

I grew up loving this game as a kid. Then as soon as I had access to the internet I saw people shitting on this game everywhere and I agree with most of their points but it still makes me sad how cruel people are towards it. It's interesting in terms of the story and what it does to flesh out shadow as a character. It just didn't properly stick the landing. I loved the idea of branching levels based on what group you sided with.

Controversial opinion, but having only played this and the Sonic Adventure games as an adult, Shadow is far superior in terms of controls and gameplay (not soundtrack don't worry, City Escape will always hold my heart). Far too many are blinkered by nostalgia for the Adventure games - great ideas, but they play out awfully.

Im not quite as harsh on this one (ironically it attracted a younger audience and I was already a little older lol) but the original games, Sonic Mania, Colors for a 3D title, I mean there's so many I reccomend if you ger the chance. Especially Sonic 2, 3, Knuckles, Mania. Mania is prob the best starting point.
