Of course the work is much more difficult and time consuming than it seems to your viewers, but be encouraged, because YOU ARE MAGIC. And you don’t put out any crappy work. So it’s going to take longer than anticipated when you are coming from where you started with this EXTREMELY COMPLICATED PROJECT. I hope you are having a rewarding experience with all your hard work. This job is reminiscent of a friend who bought a little house on the tracks. When he started fixing things he found so much damage eventually while he (& his new bride) lived in it he replaced just about every piece of wood in it. I did what you are doing right now about 20 years ago to a 14x70 mobile home. However, I did not replace my doors and windows with mobile home doors and windows. I used regular windows and doors on my mobile home and added furring strips to the outside of the mobile home to attach vinyl siding and the regular windows and doors to it. I wished I had removed the metal siding and just added completely new wood and had removed all those 2x3s and furring strips and replaced them with clean 2x4s and 2x6s to make all the walls 8 ft tall. Also, I wished I had totally done the roof that way, too. I just reinforced the roof trusses by building a frame system (boxed it in and used 2x4 furring strips) on the trusses to add new metal to the roof and left the old metal roof under it. However, the mobile home has done great over the years and still is doing great. I ended up just giving my single wide to one of my best friends to put in his mobile home park because my plans are to build my garage and a Tiny home project where the old single wide was located on my property. I did have anyone to help me so I didn't try to completely tear away the metal siding or the original metal roof. Plus, I tried to keep my budget low.

You guys are doing an awesome job. It is going to be so much better when it's all done. I would live in a mobile home again as long as it was down south. Having had a few of them in Pennsylvania it doesn't matter how much insulation you shove in those tiny cavities, or what kind of skirting you have around it, or what type of eindows you replace them with, or storm windows you add winter in Pennsylvania in a trailer is COLD.

READ THIS!! I just started watching your program cuz I've got some work to do on my little 1962. I've been observing the quality of and it seems to me that you're making the trailer better than it was to begin with. New thought: add to that I was just reading today on Google News that manufactured homes are on the rise because of the housing crisis. There are cities that are rezoning, and putting the houses on ground. They are exorbitantly expensive, and you know that there's a windfall for somebody. So here is my brilliant idea. I think when you're ready to sell the place you should have a base price and then do a bidding war. Anybody who sees what you doing knows of the quality, and I don't think you're the type to really take advantage of people, but let them choose what they will pay. It seems the right thing to do. I have put much work into projects and then sold them to find out they were laughing all the way to the Bank. Just thought it'd tell you what I think.
