TFF are artists in the truest sense. This...the choreography, the clothes, the lyrics, the texture created by the use of instruments, all of it is just so inspired and cool. Roland and his dancing! And way before bands like this were being asked to add visuals. Nobody was telling them how to do it, they just got up and did it. I always enjoy Curt's colourful basslines, too.

The saddest part about this song and other ones off The Hurting, like Pale Shelter, is when you realise it was all about their parents, particularly their mums. They were a pair of very sad, shy boys who felt abandoned by their dads and rejected by their mums. "I did not have the nerve To ask you how you feel... It's all too late, You can't change" :,(

In my mind the 80's were by far the most explosive, exciting and innovative of all pop music decades. I'd love that to be an indisputable fact. There are younger (and older) people who would disagree with me and who seem to love the current music as much as I love 80's music. I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. Or maybe I'm just getting old.

80s and 90s, and possibly late 70s except punk, bred the finest, most diverse and intelligent pop music that in my estimation was infinitely superior to any other decade. I don't think you are getting old you just know quality.

More explosive than the 70s? Rock, SKA, punk, Mod were built in the 70s. The most explosive era there ever was.

I agree with you, 80s pop music was the best. For rock I like the 70s best. And for jazz the 50s / early 60s :)

Possibly their best song. Even better than Mad World, Shout and Head Over Heels. And the video... there was an oriental vibe that was so 80s... Classic.

All the song is great, iconic, but the bass lines and the synth part in particular are epic. Tears for Fears (along with Depeche Mode I think) were decisive in defining the New Wave/Synth Pop sound of the first half of the '80s.
